This is Sylveon: This is now the 8th Eevee evolution available in Pokémon GO. Sylveon is a Fairy type and belongs to Generation 6. Since the start of the second phase of the “Illuminating Legends Y” event, you can obtain the new Pokémon – but only through evolution.
The evolution among the 8 Eevee evolutions is always a bit complicated. There is a name trick and also other ways to trigger an evolution. We will show you how it works with Sylveon.
Evolving Sylveon using the name trick – Here’s how
This is the name trick: With the name Kira
, you can evolve your Eevee into Sylveon. Additionally, you only need 25 candies for the evolution to work. No other requirements need to be met.
How to use the name trick: Choose a suitable Eevee and change its name. You have to name it Kira
. Once you have completed the name change, the shadow of Sylveon will appear at the evolve button, and the evolution can be performed.
However, keep in mind that you can use the name trick only once. After that, you can obtain a Sylveon only through the other method we explain further down in the article.

Evolving Sylveon as a buddy – Here’s how
How to trigger the evolution: This method is a bit trickier. We’ll show you the requirements step by step:
- Take the Eevee you want to evolve and select it as your buddy
- With the Eevee as your buddy, you need to earn a total of 70 buddy hearts
- Once you’ve achieved that, you can evolve the Eevee into Sylveon while still having it as your buddy

Are there any other ways? No, you can only obtain Sylveon once with the name trick or as often as you like through buddy hearts. However, there are numerous other tricks related to Eevee, so you can obtain all other Eevee evolutions.
