In Pokémon GO, a two-day Community Day will take place in August 2021 for the trainers. The focus is on Eevee. We have looked at what the community thinks about this event and reveal to you why they are demanding a reset of the name trick.
What is it about? The trainers in Pokémon GO can expect a special event every month: The Community Day. As Niantic officially announced, the Pokémon Eevee will be in focus in August (via pokemongolive.com).
Eevee can evolve into different monsters, which will receive special charged attacks during the event if you evolve them. Additionally, you can expect a whole range of bonuses for the Community Day with Eevee, like a quarter hatch distance for eggs or extended durations for incense and bait modules.
When does the event take place? The Community Day in August will take place on the following days:
- Saturday, August 14, 2021, from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM local time
- Sunday, August 15, 2021, from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM local time
These are the community reactions
As seen on social media, trainers are excited about this upcoming event. Especially the hope for shiny specimens or Eevee with an IV of 100% is high. The reddit user StardustOasis writes that the Community Day will be a hunt for 100%-Eevee for him, so he can get as many as possible of each evolution with special attack (via reddit.com).
Other trainers, on the other hand, are speculating about numerous XL candies at the event. The reddit user Jultar explains: “This Com-Day is the perfect opportunity for me to collect XL candies so that I can get one on level 50 from each evolution.” (via reddit.com).
Players who are currently facing the challenges for level 42 are also excited about this opportunity. To level up to 42, they need to evolve Eevee into each of its forms. The event makes this a bit easier for them.
The reddit user Nirokogaseru writes: “I just made it to level 41 in time! This is my moment.” (via reddit.com). Other trainers, like bs000, hopefully ask in the community whether one can gain 10 million XP in 3 weeks (via reddit.com).
Trainers demand reset of the name trick
Besides the great excitement that can be gleaned from social networks, there is also a strong demand from many trainers: the reset of the name trick.
What is the name trick?
In Pokémon GO, Eevee can be evolved in various ways, so you can set a lure module depending on the evolution to walk with Pokémon or collect hearts. However, this option does not exist for Vaporeon, Flareon, and Jolteon, the first three evolutions of Eevee.
These are evolved randomly. So you do not know which of these monsters you will end up with. However, there is a trick in Pokémon GO – the name trick. This is available for all evolutions of Eevee but can only be used once for each.
This is what the community demands
If you have been actively playing for a longer time, you have probably already used this name trick with Eevee. As a result, the evolution of Vaporeon, Flareon, and Jolteon occurs randomly, meaning trainers have no influence on it. For this reason, there is a strong discussion in the community about a reset.
The reddit user hotnudeguy writes: “Please reset the damn name trick. At least for these days. I don’t want to evolve one with good IVs just for it to end up being awful.” (via reddit.com). Trainer colesyyy also thinks it would be great if everyone could use the name trick a second time during the event (via reddit.com).
Other players, like FennekinPDX, suggest instead on reddit that items such as Thunder Stones, Fire Stones, and Water Stones could also be introduced in Pokémon GO (via reddit.com). In the original series, these play a role in evolving Eevee. This way, you wouldn’t have to rely on chance, but could at least strategically evolve Eevee into its first-generation evolutions.
Whether Niantic will allow trainers in Pokémon GO to use the name trick one more time or introduce special items for evolution is not yet known. If there is any official information about it, you can read it here, on MeinMMO.
