In Pokémon GO, you can currently collect a lot of XP. A trainer took it to the next level with a brilliant throw.
What is happening in Pokémon GO? Currently, Pokémon GO is running the Paldea event with a very strong bonus: Currently, you receive four times XP and Stardust.
Anyone on the road to Level 50 needs a lot of experience points for that. That’s why the event is very worthwhile right now if you’re trying to boost your XP account. With fabulous throws, you can currently collect XP very well.
But one trainer achieved something truly impressive: User akajaykay
(via reddit) earned a whopping 71,360 XP with a single throw and shared this success via screenshot in the Pokémon GO subreddit. We embed the post here:
How do you get so many XP in Pokémon GO at once?
This is how it worked: Crucial for the amount of XP is, on the one hand, the quadruple XP bonus that is already provided by the event. In addition, the user also activated a lucky egg, which doubles the bonuses again.
This resulted in an eightfold multiplier for the XP amounts generated by the throw. An example: The fabulous throw normally yields 1,000 XP. However, with the bonus combination with the lucky egg, it resulted in a whopping 8,000 XP.
But there were also additional bonuses for the throw:
- 800 XP came from the catch itself
- 2,000 XP was given because it was a new Pokémon, meaning one that the trainer did not have yet
- A total of 12,000 XP was given for the first catch of the day
- 160 XP for it being a curveball
- 400 XP for the catch being successful with the first throw
- And, very importantly: A total of 48,000 XP was awarded to the trainer for achieving the streak bonus. This is given for the first catch on the seventh day, if you have caught at least one Pokémon on each of the previous six days.
Together with the 8,000 XP for fabulous throws, the total ultimately amounted to 71,360 XP. Everything matched perfectly: The strong throw, a new Pokémon that stayed in the ball, and the fact that the seventh consecutive day had been reached.
By the way: Currently, you should not only pay attention to XP for fabulous throws, but also for the second master ball.
Is there more to come? Already, there are plenty of XP that result from the throw. In theory, though, even more could have been possible. For instance, there are extra XP for an active Mega Evolution of the same type when catching.
Another possibility would have been to catch the monster in AR mode – that also brings extra XP if done correctly. If you manage to sneak up on a Pokémon in AR mode without it noticing and then catch it, you receive the Expert Handler Bonus
, which also provides a few extra XP.
Interestingly, one trainer managed that way back in 2021 – and earned even more XP for a single throw.
