This weekend, the Community Day with Eevee is taking place in Pokémon GO. Starting today, August 13, 2021, Eevee and its evolutions will receive cool special moves. MeinMMO shows you what they are and what bonuses you can look forward to.
What is it about? Once a month, there is a Community Day in Pokémon GO. A specific Pokémon is put in the spotlight, which then appears more frequently in the wild. Additionally, there are numerous bonuses for this occasion. In August, this event is about the Pokémon Eevee and has some special features to offer.
Unlike previous Community Days, the Eevee event will take place not just on one day, but on two days. Additionally, some of the bonuses can already be used before the actual start and also beyond the end of the Community Day. One of these bonuses are the special moves for Eevee and its evolutions. We will show you what they are.
When does the Community Day take place? The Community Day with Eevee runs on Saturday, August 14 and Sunday, August 15, 2021, from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM local time each day.
These are the new special moves
When can you get the special moves? During the Community Day with Eevee, there will again be a variety of bonuses that you can use. Niantic has even released part of them starting today. This includes the special moves that Eevee and its evolutions receive during the event. They will be active for you during the following period:
- Start: Friday, August 13, 2021 at 7:00 PM local time
- End: Monday, August 16, 2021 at 7:00 PM local time
These special moves are given to Eevee and its evolutions: A feature that usually comes with every Community Day is special event moves for the evolution of the Pokémon. This is also the case for the event with Eevee.
Since Eevee has a total of 8 evolutions, of course, each of them gets its own move, when you evolve Eevee into them. However, you can also look forward to a special attack for Eevee during this time when you catch or hatch one. These are the new moves:

How strong the new moves are
Eevee is a Normal-type Pokémon and generally doesn’t play a role in the PvP league and raids due to its poor stats. The new move doesn’t change that. However, this is different for its evolutions. Espeon, Glaceon, Leafeon, and Sylveon are even among the best attackers in Pokémon GO.
So how do Eevee’s evolutions fare with the new moves? With the help of the PvPoke overview, we looked at which Pokémon benefit the most from the new attacks (via pvpoke.com). It shows that especially Sylveon with the Charged Move Psyshock is a clear winner.
Since Sylveon is ranked quite high in the PvP league, you should definitely use this move according to PvPoke. Leafeon can also enjoy its fast Fast Move. You should also use this in your PvP battles if you use Leafeon.
Flareon can also convince with its Charged Move Superpower. However, this Pokémon does not play a big role in the PvP league compared to better Fire-type Pokémon. If you still use it, you can safely rely on this move.
Of the other evolutions, only Umbreon can still benefit from its Charged Move. Especially in the Ultra League, you could rely on Psychic and make it a bit stronger.
All other evolutions have not had as much luck with their moves. They have other attacks that are significantly better, which you should prefer. Also, in raids, the new moves play a rather minor role, as these Pokémon generally have better movesets.
Other bonuses for the Community Day with Eevee
In addition to the special moves that Eevee and its evolutions can receive, you have the opportunity to take advantage of additional bonuses starting today. We will show you what they are.
Simplified developing of Sylveon
To evolve Sylveon, you normally need to take an Eevee as your buddy and earn 70 hearts with it. You can do this by playing with the Pokémon, taking photos of it, and exploring the surroundings together.
As part of the Community Day, this process has been shortened, and you only need to collect 7 hearts with Eevee as your buddy to evolve it into Sylveon. This is possible starting August 13 at 7 PM.
Missing walking requirements for Umbreon and Espeon
The evolution of Umbreon and Espeon is currently made significantly easier for you. According to Niantic, there has been a bug in the game that no longer requires walking to obtain Umbreon or Espeon. You only need to set your Eevee as a buddy, and you can then evolve it into one of the two Pokémon depending on the time of day.
Previously, you had to walk 10 kilometers with your Eevee to evolve it afterward. Since Niantic announced that they will fix this bug only after the event, you can relax while developing Espeon and Umbreon during the Community Day without having to walk long distances.
Limited research
As with other events, there will be a limited research task for this one as well. According to Niantic, this should also be available in the game starting this evening (via pokemongolive.com). You will receive a Glacier and Moss Module as a reward for completing it, which you need to evolve Eevee into Glaceon and Leafeon.
Offers in the in-game shop
If you want to participate in the special research “You have the choice” around Eevee, you can purchase an event ticket for about 1.00 Euro in the in-game shop. Additionally, a special Community Box is available in the shop for 1,280 coins. This includes 50 Ultra Balls, 5 Incense, a Premium Fast TM, and a Premium Charge TM.
