In Pokémon GO today, on May 8th, the start of the big Johto event from the Nostalgia Challenge is coming up. There are new quests, shinies, and another special research.
When does the Johto event take place? This event starts on May 8th at 1:00 PM local time. You can participate for exactly one week, until May 15th at 1:00 PM local time.
This is now the second event of the Nostalgia Challenge, which will continue throughout May.

Look forward to these bonuses: Logically, this event revolves around Pokémon from the 2nd generation. In addition, there will be further bonuses:
- A new special research will reward you with the legendary Pokémon Ho-Oh with the attack Earthquake
- In the wild, Pokémon like Dummisel and Panzaeron will appear
- In raids and eggs, you will find Pokémon from the 2nd generation, such as Lampi, Yanma, Girafarig, Tannza, Dummisel, Skorgla, Pottrott, Panzaeron, and Phanpy
- Pikachu with Umbreon hat appears in the wild
- Shiny Dummisel appears for the first time in Pokémon GO
- Special field research focuses on Pokémon from the Johto region
- Double stardust for catching Pokémon and for raids
What we know about the special research: This research will be similar to the quest series for the Kanto event and Mewtwo. You will be able to complete the tasks well from home.

The reward will ultimately be the legendary Pokémon Ho-Oh. Before that, however, you will also encounter other Pokémon from the 2nd generation.
What spawns can we expect? There are many interesting Pokémon from the 2nd generation. With the new Shiny Dummisel, every shiny hunter will have something to do.
Panzaeron as a spawn is also interesting because it has a higher shiny chance than normal Pokémon. So you have good odds if you want the shiny.

Make the most of this bonus: Double stardust is always useful and should definitely be leveraged. Focus particularly on catches, as raids do not provide nearly as much dust.
