In Pokémon GO, the Spotlight Hour with Pikachu starts today, on February 23rd. We’ll tell you whether it will wear a hat this time and what bonuses are available.
What is a Spotlight Hour? This event takes place every Tuesday in Pokémon GO and focuses on a special monster for one hour. In addition, there is a bonus that rounds it all off.
This week it’s about Pikachu. This is fitting since the Kanto event is currently taking place and Pikachu is often appearing in the wild.
Spotlight Hour with Pikachu – All Information
When does the event start? It starts at 6:00 PM local time. The bonuses will be active for one hour, and the event will end at 7:00 PM.
These are the bonuses: The spawns will be increased, and for one hour, almost exclusively Pikachu will appear in the wild.
Additionally, there will be double candies for catching Pokémon. You will receive at least 6 candies per Pokémon – with a Nanab Berry, even 12.
Is Pikachu wearing a hat? No! This time, there is only Pikachu without a hat. This is a first, as there have been multiple Spotlight Hours with Pikachu, but it always wore a special hat before.
Nevertheless, you can also encounter Pikachu as Shiny. So, if you already have shiny hat Pikachu, you can now hope for a non-hat Pikachu as Shiny.
For example, at Halloween, Pikachu wore a spooky costume and in summer, it appeared with a straw hat.
By now, it has gotten to the point where the regular Pikachu is almost rarer than one with a hat.
Is the hour worth it? Those who already have a regular shiny Pikachu can comfortably skip the hour. Double candies for Pikachu aren’t particularly exciting either, as most trainers probably have enough candies after the numerous events with Pikachu.
However, if you still don’t have a regular shiny Pikachu, you should make use of the event. You probably won’t have a better chance at getting one for the time being.
What’s next: For the month of February, this was the last Spotlight Hour for now. No Spotlight Hours are currently known for March, but they should certainly be announced soon.
