The starter Pokémon of Generation 3 will be useful again in Pokémon GO. With the right moves during their community days, they will become top attackers.
With the announcement of the community day featuring Treecko, it is clear: The starters of Generation 3 will also have their community days.
On each community day, the event Pokémon or its evolution learns a special move. If these moves are the same as the previous community days, then these Pokémon could become very strong.
How strong the Gen-3 starters could become
Which moves are involved? It revolves around the moves that the starters of the first two generations learned during their community days:
- Venusaur and Meganium: Fleur Statue
- Charizard and Cyndaquil: Lohekanonade
- Squirtle and Croconaw: Aqua Cannon

Will the Gen-3 starters learn these moves too? Which moves the starters of Generation 3 will learn is not known. However, it can be assumed that they will be the same moves. After all, their predecessors could learn them as well.
These terms are used: To determine how strong the Pokémon will become, abbreviations DPS and TDO are used.
- DPS stands for “Damage per second”, meaning the damage the move causes per second. This is especially important in raids, where the goal is to deal a lot of damage in a short time.
- TDO stands for “Total damage output”, which means how much damage a Pokémon inflicts until it is defeated. This is particularly important in PvP mode, as a Pokémon must withstand a lot and not be defeated too quickly.
Grovyle with Fleur Statue
What do the values say? The DPS value of Grovyle is excellent. It is just behind Roserade. This is only because this monster has recently learned Leaf Storm. Shaymin is also ahead of Grovyle, but this Pokémon is not yet in the game.
However, the TDO value is low. Grovyle will be, like many grass Pokémon, more of a glass cannon. It deals a lot of damage but is also quickly defeated.
How good will Grovyle be with Fleur Statue? This move will be well worth it for Grovyle! It will make it the second-best grass attacker and significantly better than Venusaur. So if you’re looking for a good alternative to Roserade, you should participate in the community day.
When will the community day take place? This event has already been announced. On March 23, the Community Day featuring Treecko will take place.
Incineroar with Lohekanonade
What do the values say? The DPS value of Incineroar with Lohekanonade will undoubtedly be the best among all fire Pokémon. Even Moltres, previously the best fire attacker, will be outdone.
However, the TDO value is rather average. Moltres and especially Entei stand out here.
How good will Incineroar be with Lohekanonade? This community day will be particularly strong, as you will get the best fire attacker in the game. In raids, this Pokémon will be particularly strong, and you should definitely have one in your team.
When will the community day take place? There is no exact date yet. However, if Niantic remains true to itself and holds a community day for a starter Pokémon every other month, it should take place in May.
Swampert with Aqua Cannon
What do the values say? The DPS value is almost as high as Kyogre! This is remarkable, as no water Pokémon has come close to the legendary Pokémon so far. Swampert is nearly on par with Kyogre.
The TDO value of Swampert is also impressive. Here the starter can only be beaten by Kyogre, though also relatively clearly.
How good will Swampert be with Aqua Cannon? Since Swampert faces stiff competition from Kyogre, it can only secure the 2nd place among water attackers. Especially in PvP, the starter excels. In raids, it is the best substitute for Kyogre. Gyarados may as well pack its bags.
It remains to be seen whether any of the community days will be as good as the Perl event:
