This is the Raid Hour: Typically, the Raid Hour occurs every Wednesday. The current 5-star raid boss is highlighted during this time. It appears in almost all gyms within the hour.
In the current month of December, this legendary boss is the Dragon-type Pokémon Kyurem. If you want to catch this monster, you need just a Raid Pass or a Remote Raid Pass to participate in the raid.
If you don’t have a gym nearby where Kyurem might appear, you can still take advantage of the hour through remote raids. For example, friends can invite you to raids they are participating in. It doesn’t matter where you are – as long as you have a Remote Raid Pass.
Raid Hour on December 16th – What is the benefit?
When does the Raid Hour start? As usual, the Raid Hour begins at 6 PM local time. Before that, the raid eggs will appear, which will hatch right on time. The raids end again at 7:00 PM, and the usual spawns will return.
Why should I participate? Primarily, the hour is beneficial for you if the boss is still missing from your collection. During the Raid Hour, many trainers are often battling, so there’s a good opportunity to quickly find a raid with enough people for Kyurem. The Remote Raid Passes are also useful here: Just look on the map for a suitable raid and join a sufficiently large group.
Even if you already have the monster, the hour can still be useful. Because: With legendary raids, you accumulate an unusually large amount of XP. They can give you up to 10,000 XP, or even 20,000 XP if you’ve activated a Lucky Egg. Kyurem doesn’t require too many trainers, so you can quickly gather XP here. Additionally, you can increase your friendship level through joint raids, which also brings XP.

Defeating Kyurem – These counters work
How many trainers do you need? Kyurem can already be defeated with teams of two trainers if you use the right counters and are at least level 40. If you can’t access that, you shouldn’t have any problems with four trainers.
What counters should I use? As an Ice/Dragon-type monster, Kyurem has several weaknesses that can be exploited. It is weak against the following types:
- Fighting
- Rock
- Steel
- Fairy
- Dragon
The top counters therefore also come from these types. For example, use these monsters:
