On October 5th, the development event started in Pokémon GO, bringing you special event research again. We at MeinMMO have looked at what content awaits you.
What kind of tasks are these? With the start of the development event “Stars of Development”, Niantic has also activated new field research tasks for you. You can secure these by spinning the photo disc at the PokéStop.
In line with the event theme, you will also have the opportunity to obtain one or the other development item. We have summarized the tasks and rewards that await you below.
All Quests for the Development Event – Tasks & Rewards
During the development event, you can spin special event tasks at your PokéStops. Niantic has activated 8 different quests that revolve around the topics of catching, developing, powering up, and interacting with PokéStops.
While there won’t be encounters with Pokémon this time, there will be plenty of other interesting rewards. You can recognize the tasks in your “Field” view by the note “Event,” and you have unlimited time to complete them as usual.
With the help of the overview from LeekDuck, we have summarized all the tasks and rewards below.
| Task | Reward |
| Catch 3 Eevee | 20 Eevee Candy |
| Develop a Pokémon | 500 Stardust |
| Develop 3 Pokémon | 2,000 Stardust |
| Make 5 Power-Ups on Pokémon | 25 Mega Energy for Kangaskhan or Aerodactyl or Ampharos or Steelix |
| Make 7 Power-Ups on Pokémon | 25 Mega Energy for Gyarados or Altaria |
| Spin 10 PokéStops or Gyms | 1x Sun Stone or 1x King’s Rock or 1x Metal Coat or 1x Dragon Scale or 1x Up-Grade |
| Spin 15 PokéStops or Gyms | 1x Sinnoh Stone |
| Spin 20 PokéStops or Gyms | 1x Unova Stone |
Why the research is especially worth it
Even if there are no encounters with Pokémon during these event researches, it is worth completing the quests. This is mainly due to the sought-after development items, but also due to the Mega energy. We explain why.
Development Items
While you can mostly develop Pokémon in the game using Candy, some require special items. These are relatively rare in Pokémon GO and cannot be purchased in the shop.
For example, you can obtain the Sinnoh Stone with a bit of luck through research breakthroughs or after a trainer battle. And you can also receive one of these items after spinning the PokéStop on the 7th day. However, if you want to develop one or the other monster with an item regularly, you should stock up on them.
Usually, you won’t find these items faster than through the current event quests, as the tasks are quick and easy to solve, and you can also simply spin the same stop multiple times in a row to complete the quest.
Sinnoh Stone: We particularly recommend the tasks related to the Sinnoh Stone, as this item allows for the development of relatively many and strong Pokémon. Some of the best attackers in Pokémon GO belong to the Sinnoh region.
We have summarized which developments are most worthwhile with the Sinnoh Stone in the following article.
Unova Stone: Alternatively, you can secure the Unova Stone. This allows for the development of regional Pokémon like Leavanny. You can also only obtain Skelabra, one of the best fire attackers in Pokémon GO, with the help of an Unova Stone.
Other Development Items: In contrast to the Sinnoh Stone and the Unova Stone, you can only develop individual Pokémon with the other development items. You need them for the following monsters:
| Development Item | Development |
| Sun Stone | Weedle to Blissey Lilminip to Dressella Sunny to Sunflora Swablu to Elfun |
| King’s Rock | Shellder to Cloyster Quagsire to Quagsire |
| Metal Coat | Onix to Steelix Scyther to Scizor |
| Up-Grade | Porygon to Porygon2 |
| Dragon Scale | Seadra to Kingdra |
Mega Energy
In addition to the development items, Mega Energy may also be of interest to many of you. Especially Mega Kangaskhan was only briefly available in raids. You need this Mega Energy to perform Mega Evolutions on the corresponding Pokémon.
These Pokémon are then somewhat stronger and are especially useful in raids, as they boost all attacks of their type in battle. Moreover, when a Mega Evolution is active, you will receive additional candy when you catch monsters of the same type.
These quests can also be solved relatively quickly, but they cost Stardust and Candy to perform the Power-Ups. So whoever is still lacking Mega Energy should definitely take advantage of these tasks.
Researches That Are Less Worthwhile
Apart from the development items and Mega Energy, there are also tasks that provide you with Stardust and Eevee Candy. The task related to Eevee is a good opportunity to complete it in between if you already have it spun once.
During the event, the little monster will spawn wildly and you will have plenty of opportunities to farm Candy. So unless you just started playing or are in a Candy shortage for Eevee, you should focus on other tasks.
The tasks that relate to Stardust require you to develop Pokémon. This is only advisable if you were planning to perform a development anyway. You could combine the task “Develop 3 Pokémon” for example with the Collector Challenge for the Development Event.
What do you think of the content of the event researches? Which quest do you definitely want to secure? And what rewards would you like to see next time? Feel free to share your opinion with us here on MeinMMO in the comments and exchange thoughts with other trainers.
You can finally get Cosmovum in Pokémon GO. However, trainers are now reporting issues when developing Cosmog. We will show you what happened.
