The Samurzel Community Day in May is history. For six hours, players could catch the plant monster more frequently in Pokémon GO – and especially shiny hunters were delighted.
This is how the Community Day went: Anyone who opened Pokémon GO on Sunday at 11 AM and ideally threw two incense items right away was quickly overwhelmed by many small Samurzel.
The plant Pokémon spawned in large numbers. And although the evolution Tengulist with Seed Bomb is not the most exciting Pokémon in the world – anyone looking for a good Samurzel for their collection could enjoy an easy game.
For collectors, the Community Day with Samurzel was made for them. Especially for those searching for shiny Pokémon versions.
Plenty of Shiny Samurzel around
A good day for shiny hunters: Typically, the rare shiny versions of Pokémon are hard to find. However, during the Community Day, the rate for Samurzel was increased. Combined with
- the many spawns
- the three-hour incense durations
- and the generally long-running Community Day (Samurzel appeared in boosted numbers for six hours)
it resulted in a perfect Community Day for players who wanted to secure a shiny Samurzel.
Additionally, players could get more Samurzel encounters through the snapshot feature. The monster appeared suddenly in photos taken of Pokémon – and here too, trainers reported catching shinies in the following encounters.
In the community, many players were pleased with the great opportunity for shinies. For example, a reddit user wrote: “I broke a personal record. 34 shinies from home” (via reddit).
And also in our Facebook group for Pokémon GO, many players showed that there were several shinies to catch. Between 15 and 30 shinies were all present. “20 shinies in 3.5 hours,” writes Simone F. 21 Samurzel, and in addition, user Patrick L. secured one shiny each of Nidoran, Zigzagoon, Terrakion, and Riolu.
This did not go so well: Even with the strong rates, some players had worse luck with shinies and found only a few.
A larger problem occurred with buddies: Some players experienced a bug where the buddy Pokémon did not bring Poké Balls as planned. This made catching from home a bit harder.
If you also want to go shiny hunting on the next Community Day, you have again received a good target. After a vote was conducted for the next two months, it is confirmed: Hornliu will be the next event Pokémon in June.
