In Pokémon GO the Halloween event starts tomorrow, on October 15, 2021. This brings you, in addition to numerous bonuses, 6 cool new Pokémon. We have looked into what kind of monsters these are and will show them to you.
What kind of event is it? As in every year, there will also be a Halloween event in Pokémon GO taking place in 2021. You will of course encounter thematically suitable Pokémon and can look forward to great bonuses.
This year the Halloween event will take place in two parts: Scary Company and Spooky Companions. There will be cool new monsters in the game for both parts, which we will show you below.
When does the event take place? The first part “Scary Company” starts tomorrow, on October 15, 2021, at 10:00 AM and runs until October 22, 2021, at 10:00 AM. The second part will take place immediately afterwards from October 22 at 10:00 AM. You will also have several days to take advantage of all the benefits until the event ends on October 31 at 8:00 PM.
These are the 6 cool new monsters for the Halloween event
As part of the Halloween event, there will be 6 cool new monsters in Pokémon GO. One of the monsters will make its debut at the start of the first part “Scary Company”. This is Galar-Wailord. The other 5 monsters will follow in the second part “Spooky Companions”. We have looked at the new monsters and will introduce them to you below.
Galar-Wailord
Galar-Wailord is an evolution of Galar-Whalmer. This was released in the game in June 2021 along with its other evolution Galar-Wailmer. Now, for the Halloween event, Galar-Wailord will finally be available. This monster is of the Poison and Psychic types.
Visually, the Galar version is clearly distinguishable from the normal Wailord. While the shell in the normal form sits more like a Viking helmet on its head and gives a very cute impression, the shell of Galar-Wailord completely covers its head.
The head and upper body are in various shades of purple. Only the lower part of the body resembles a normal Wailord. A shiny variant is not available yet.
To get Galar-Wailord, you need to take Galar-Whalmer as your buddy. If you catch 30 Psychic Pokémon together, then an evolution can be triggered. You can find Galar-Whalmer in level-1 raids during the first part of the event. The evolution to Galar-Wailord is still possible after the Halloween event.
Irrbis and Pumpdjinn
Starting October 22, you will be able to encounter the Ghost- and Grass-type Pokémon Irrbis for the first time in Pokémon GO. This Pokémon comes from Generation 6 and will be available in 4 different sizes in the game: S, M, L, and XL. Depending on the size, it will also be represented differently in Pokémon GO.
The Ghost- and Grass-type Pokémon externally resembles a typical Halloween pumpkin. Moreover, it can evolve into Pumpdjinn. This monster also belongs to the Ghost and Grass types. However, both Pokémon cannot really shine with strong stats.
However, during the second part of the Halloween event, you can only find Irrbis. You will encounter it either in the wild or in level-1 raids. To get Pumpdjinn, you need to evolve Irrbis. Both monsters are not yet available in their shiny version in Pokémon GO.
Paragoni and Trombork
The Ghost- and Grass-type Pokémon Paragoni and its evolution Trombork are also making their debut in Pokémon GO with the start of the second part of the Halloween event. Like Irrbis and Pumpdjinn, Paragoni and Trombork belong to the monsters of Generation 6.
Visually, you can recognize Paragoni by its black ghost-like body and the tree stump it has on its head. Its evolution, on the other hand, represents a living tree.
While Paragoni cannot convince with its stats, the stats of Trombork are already looking a bit better. However, this monster is also not considered among the best attackers in Pokémon GO.
During the second part of the Halloween event, you can get Paragoni in the wild, in level-1 raids, and by hatching 7 km eggs. Similar to Pumpdjinn, you can only obtain Trombork by evolving Paragoni. Shiny hunters, however, will have to wait, as the shiny forms are still not found in the game.
Mega-Absol
Another new Pokémon is Mega-Absol, which will also be found in the second part of the Halloween event. This temporary evolution of the Dark-type Pokémon Absol will dominate the Mega Raids in Pokémon GO from October 22, 2021, at 10:00 AM local time until November 05, 2021, at 10:00 AM local time.
If you participate successfully in this raid, you will receive Mega Energy for Absol and can catch it in its normal form. With sufficient Mega Energy, you can evolve into a Mega-Absol yourself. As with all other Mega evolutions, this is time-limited.
You can recognize it by its long white strand on its face and its wings. Mega-Absol is also of the Dark type. With a bit of luck, you will encounter a shiny Absol after the raid. You can recognize it by its head, claws, tail, and horn. These have an orange color.
More cool Pokémon for the Halloween event
In addition to the 6 new Pokémon introduced in Pokémon GO as part of the Halloween event, there are also one or two costumed monsters to catch again. Of course, Pikachu must not be missing. But Plinfa and Drifzepeli have also dressed up.

This year, all monsters wear a Halloween mischief costume. Pikachu’s consists of a tall cylinder. Plinfa wears a pumpkin hat and Drifzepeli wears a small cylinder. With a bit of luck, you might encounter these monsters in their shiny variant.
The PokeMiners are a group of data miners who regularly analyze the game code of Pokémon GO to find new information. They then make this data publicly available to other trainers.
They often inform about upcoming changes or features even before a release. However, since their findings are not official data, they can be changed at any time by Niantic.
