Today, a global challenge has spontaneously started in Pokémon GO. And it can bring you a nice reward.
What is a global challenge? A global challenge is a task that must be completed by all trainers around the world together. If successfully completed, there is a reward that is available regardless of the individual progress of each trainer.
On May 20, 2025, at 09:00, a new global challenge called “Global Challenge: Collective Strength” was launched. If successfully completed, you can receive a special research that can otherwise only be purchased for real money.
Gifts for Everyone
What is the global challenge? The current global challenge consists of sending gifts to friends. If a total of 30,000,000 gifts are sent, the challenge is successfully completed.
You have until May 22, 2025, at 20:00 to help complete the global challenge. If not enough gifts have been sent by then, the task will have failed.
Until the end of the challenge, you can open 50 gifts from your friends every day.
What reward is there? If the task is successfully completed, you will have the opportunity to gift a ticket for a special research to one of your friends. This can be obtained in the in-game shop from May 23, 2025, at 10:00 until May 24, 2025, at 17:00.
The ticket unlocks the special research for the Community Day Classic with Machollo, which takes place on Saturday, May 24, 2025, from 14:00 to 17:00. This special research typically costs $1.99 (around €2).
To send the ticket to a friend, you must have reached at least the Friendship Level “Best Friends” with that friend. To achieve this, you must have interacted with your friend on 7 days (for example, by opening gifts or participating in raids together).
You cannot send the ticket to newly added friends, nor can you redeem it yourself.
