In Pokémon GO, a new event has started today in line with the European Championship. However, a large part of the trainers will not be able to fully enjoy it.
What kind of event is this? In conjunction with the Football European Championship, Pokémon GO is bringing an event to Germany that accompanies the tournament. The event in Pokémon GO will take place from June 14, 2024, to July 14, 2024.
Alongside a limited-time research and a bonus, there will also be new official routes for the event. However, this is only if you live in the right cities.
Exclusive content for cities of the EM
What’s the deal with the routes? In addition to the option to create your own routes in Pokémon GO, Niantic can also create official routes. They are doing this now as part of the EM event in Germany. The problem: only the cities that are hosting EM matches will receive them.
This means that there are only official routes for the event in the following cities: Berlin, Cologne, Dortmund, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt (Main), Gelsenkirchen, Hamburg, Leipzig, Munich, and Stuttgart. All trainers living in other locations will be excluded.
What other content is available in the event? In addition to the limited official routes, there is also a bonus available in the event. This grants you three times the amount of experience points daily at the first spin of a PokéStop or a gym.
This bonus is available to all trainers in Germany and not just in the cities where the routes are activated.
Additionally, there is a free, limited-time research that is active in the event. Trainers will have the opportunity to catch a Voltorb and corresponding candies every week. The first part of this research is already active and will also reward you with 10,000 Stardust and Ultra Balls.
To successfully complete the research and receive all rewards, you need to cover a distance of 16 km.
The limited-time research is also available to all trainers in Germany.
It remains to be questioned why they decided to activate an event in this form only for a limited number of trainers.
