The second Pokémon GO Spotlight Hour in June is coming up. You have an encounter with Magnemite ahead – and its evolution is powerful!
When does the Spotlight Hour start? On June 10, the second Spotlight Hour in June starts at 6:00 PM. During this time, the Spotlight Pokémon will appear pretty much everywhere for 60 minutes.
Which Pokémon will appear on June 10? Magnemite is the Pokémon – a classic from the first generation, belonging to the Electric and Steel types. It evolves into Magneton and Magnezone.
How do I get Magnezone? To evolve Magnemite into Magneton, you need 25 candies. You can then trigger the evolution into Magnezone with an additional 100 candies, but you must be within the range of a Magnetic Lure Module.
What bonus is active? During the Spotlight Hour, you will receive double the amount of candies for every catch you make. So, you could easily get enough candies for Magnezone.
But is participating worth it?

Is Magnemite strong? Magnemite is not, but Magnezone is. The Pokémon is one of the better Electric attackers, and it’s one of the best if you exclude Legendary Pokémon. Especially if you’re missing a few of the top attackers, Magnezone is a really good option. The Shadow variant of the Pokémon is particularly strong, so you can at least collect candies until you have one.
Is the bonus worth it? Double candies are always good, and with Silver Pinap Berries, you can double the candy count again. The bonus also applies to every other Pokémon during the period, including Raid bosses. You can take advantage of that.
Is there Shiny Magnemite? Yes, the Shiny variant is catchable, but you need a lot of luck. The Shiny rate is not increased during the event.
Is the Spotlight Hour worth it? There are definitely worse options. With Magnemite, you have a Pokémon that can be used effectively in battles. But of course: Long-time players will likely have plenty of Magnemite already. For newcomers, though, it’s an exciting hour.
