What kind of event is this? Every Tuesday, a Spotlight Hour takes place in Pokémon GO from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM. During this time, you will encounter a selected Pokémon significantly more often in the wild and can take advantage of a bonus at the same time. The combination of Pokémon and bonus that awaits you is set by Niantic at the beginning of each month.

When does it start? As usual, it begins at 6:00 PM. The Spotlight Hour will be active until 7:00 PM.
What bonuses are there? During the Spotlight Hour, you will encounter Wailmer almost everywhere in the wild. Since this Pokémon is very large, your map in the game is likely to look quite funny. If you want even more encounters with the Pokémon, you can light a incense for that.
Additionally, you will receive double experience points for catching Pokémon.

Can you catch Shiny Wailmer? Yes, the shiny form of Wailmer is already active in Pokémon GO and can be found and caught by you. However, the chances of this are not increased during the Spotlight Hour. So you need a lot of luck.
Is the Spotlight Hour worth it today? Neither Wailmer nor its evolution Wailord are strong Pokémon for you. Both are not particularly useful in battles. One advantage is that Wailmer, due to its size, also has a huge catch circle, which makes throwing great throws easier.
