What kind of event is it? Today, on December 14th, 2021, a Spotlight Hour takes place for trainers in Pokémon GO. The Spotlight Hour runs once a week and rotates with the featured Pokémon. During the event, you will encounter the corresponding Pokémon nearly everywhere in the wild.
The Spotlight Hour today brings the Fire-type Pokémon Magmar into the spotlight. It is from the first generation. We will show you everything you need to know about it.
Spotlight Hour with Magmar – Start, Bonuses, and Shiny
When does it start? As usual, the Spotlight Hour begins today at 6:00 PM and lasts for one hour. You can benefit from the active bonuses and spawns until 7:00 PM. After that, everything returns to normal.
What bonuses are there? For evolving Pokémon, you will receive double XP during the Spotlight Hour. So if you have some evolutions saved up, you can start them during the event and receive additional experience points.
Additionally, you will find Magmar spawns everywhere in the wild during the event. If you can’t get enough of them, you can use incense. It will primarily attract Magmar.
Can you catch Shiny Magmar? Yes, Shiny Magmar has been in the game for a while. We will show you in the following graphic what the Shiny family looks like around Magmar in Pokémon GO.
Is the Spotlight Hour with Magmar worth it?
How strong is it: Let’s consider Magmar and its evolution Magbrant. Both are not particularly strong attackers in Pokémon GO. As a Fire-type attacker, Magbrant is still “okay” in raids but faces much stronger competition from Reshiram, Skelebra, and Heatran.
In trainer battles, Magbrant can be completely disregarded. Just because of the Pokémon’s strength, we cannot recommend the Spotlight Hour today.
The increased XP for evolving Pokémon is interesting for trainers at lower levels.
Use the Spotlight Hour today especially if you still need candies.
