What kind of event is this? In Pokémon GO, a so-called spotlight hour takes place every Tuesday. During this, a specific Pokémon is highlighted and spawns nearly everywhere in the wild for 60 minutes.
Today, on July 5th, it’s that time again, and the first spotlight hour in July features the bug and flying Pokémon Ledyba. The event is complemented by an additional XP bonus.
Spotlight Hour with Ledyba – Start, Bonuses & Shiny
When does the spotlight hour start? The short event starts as usual at 6:00 PM local time and lasts for 60 minutes. It will therefore end at 7:00 PM, and the spawns will change.
What bonuses are there? During the spotlight hour, you can primarily encounter Ledyba at every corner. Those who want to collect even more specimens can also set up a lure. Furthermore, you will receive double experience points (XP) for catching Pokémon during this time.
Can you catch shiny Ledyba? Yes, Ledyba is also available in its shiny form in the game. You can recognize it by its orange wings.
Is the spotlight hour with Ledyba worth it?
How strong is it? Ledyba is a bug and flying Pokémon from the 2nd generation of games, which can evolve into Ledian. However, the monster is not particularly strong, and its evolution does not impress much with its stats. Therefore, it is unsuitable for use in raids or the GO battle league.
Who should take advantage of the spotlight hour? Ledyba is one of the monsters that is rather uninteresting for most trainers. Only shiny hunters will benefit from this Pokémon.
Otherwise, the spotlight hour is mainly worthwhile because of the XP bonus. Anyone who is on the way to level 50 and is still missing some experience points has the opportunity to collect some today.
If you prefer to encounter a different Pokémon, you can alternatively light a mystery box and spawn Meltan. However, keep in mind that you should not set a regular lure, as it may cause problems with spawns.
