What kind of event is this? In Pokémon GO, there is a Spotlight Hour every Tuesday evening, during which you encounter a selected Pokémon very frequently. There is also a bonus for XP, Stardust, or Candy. The combination of Pokémon and bonus that is active changes every week. The developers announce this at the beginning of each month.
In today’s event, you will encounter the Pokémon Doduo and receive double the amount of experience points.
Spotlight Hour on June 27
When does it start? As every Tuesday, the Spotlight Hour starts today at 6:00 PM. The bonuses will be active for one hour. The event ends at 7:00 PM.
What bonuses are there? During the event, you will encounter Doduo almost everywhere in the wild. The Pokémon will appear noticeably more frequently in the game. If you want even more encounters with this species, you can use an incense to attract more specimens.
Additionally, you will receive double the experience points for evolving Pokémon. If you are still on the way to level 50, this could be very worthwhile for you.

Can you catch shiny Doduo? Yes, you can find and catch the shiny form of Doduo in Pokémon GO. However, the chances of encountering it are not increased during today’s Spotlight Hour. You will need a lot of luck to find a shiny Doduo.
Is the Spotlight Hour worth it today? If you are looking for strong attackers, you will not be rewarded during today’s Spotlight Hour. Doduo is not a good fighter, and its evolution Dodrio is not either. If you want, you can evolve Pokémon and secure the higher XP rewards or hope for shinies with a lot of luck.
