How do I defeat Gigantamax Snorlax in Pokémon GO?
These are the best counters: The strongest Pokémon you can currently use against Gigantamax Snorlax is the Dynamax variant of Machamp. This fighting Pokémon is your chance to deal damage to the sturdy giant Snorlax. Tip: In the current time-limited research for the event, which is already ongoing, you will receive a Dynamax Machop. You can use it as a counter if you power it up and evolve it.
Other attackers that may work include Gigantamax Kingler, Gigantamax Charizard, or Gigantamax Rhyperior. You can also send Dynamax Quatermak into battle. But: Machamp is your best chance.
The thing is: Machamp alone will not be enough, as it cannot withstand enough damage itself. Therefore, you will need defenders in your setup.
Which defenders? You will need Pokémon to absorb damage. Dynamax Blissey, Dynamax Chansey, and Dynamax Metagross are good options.
Also, consider using monsters for healing or protection if you can’t deal much damage yourself.
How do you fight Snorlax? You send your Chansey, Blissey, and Metagross into battle for as long as the Dynamax gauge is still charging. Just before the gauge fills, your Machamp comes into play, Dynamaxing and attacking Snorlax with effective fighting moves. After the Dynamax phase ends, you should switch back.
How many trainers are needed? Many. Gigantamax raids are designed for up to 40 players. So it will absolutely not be easy to defeat Snorlax. You will certainly need double-digit numbers of trainers – starting from 10 up should be possible if you have the right counters. The better your counters and the more trainers, the easier the fight will be. If you have Dyna mushrooms, you can use them to deal double damage.
What’s next in Pokémon GO? April not only brings a gigantic monster Snorlax but also other new Pokémon – for example, Knapfel. This will soon appear in Pokémon GO as part of its own event. Want to know what’s happening when? Then check here: All events in April 2025 in Pokémon GO.
