In Pokémon GO, the Rocket encounters have surprisingly changed for the Air Event. We show you what is new in the overview.
What happened? Today, on May 3, is the start date for the big Air Adventure Event in Pokémon GO. During the event, legendary Mega Pokémon will appear for the first time. In addition, there are altered spawns, limited research, and even more exciting content.
Niantic did not announce any changes regarding Team GO Rocket, but first participants of the event have already compiled the information. You will see the balloons more frequently now.
Rocket Balloons and Encounters in the Air Event
This is new: Players in earlier time zones were able to compile important information about the Air Event. Trainer GloomySelf reports the following changes on reddit:
- The Rocket balloons appear hourly – so you now have the opportunity to battle a member of Team GO Rocket once every hour
- The grunts in the Rocket balloons only battle with Pokémon of the types Rock, Bug, or Flying – You can find the counter types in Pokémon GO here
- Some grunts use new teams. So far, confirmed Pokémon are Amonitas and Larvitar for Team Rock, Bluzuk for Team Bug, and Zubat and Garados / Dragoran for Team Flying – Screenshots show that Crypto Amonitas and Crypto Bluzuk can be caught as Shiny.
- It seems that the new teams can only be found with grunts from the Rocket balloons
Additionally, players from the community confirm that battles against the grunts are now easier than ever.
Update from May 4: Some of the changes have now been reverted. It seems this was just a mistake.
Trainers are pleased with the changes. They appreciate the frequency of the balloons and specific encounters.
