A new Rocket takeover starts today as part of the Halloween event in Pokémon GO. Crypto-Regigigas is in focus and you can remove the charge move Frustration from your cryptos. We will show you the event details.
Regularly, takeovers by Team GO Rocket start in Pokémon GO. Grunts, bosses, and even the leader are involved and change their strategies. For you, this is a great opportunity to catch new strong cryptos and add them to your collection.

Rocket event starting October 26, 2023 overview
When does it start? The event begins today, on October 26, at 10:00 AM. It will be active until Tuesday, October 31, at 8:00 PM.
What content is available?
- Giovanni fights with Crypto-Regigigas.
- There is also a special research that rewards you with your Super Rocket Radar so you can track down Giovanni.
- Crypto-Lugia appears for the first time in Crypto Raids – Available from October 29 at 10:00 AM until October 29 at 8:00 PM. It can be Shiny.
- Team GO Rocket uses different crypto Pokémon.
What bonuses are available?
- At the start of the event, you will receive the special research ‘Showdown in the Shadows’, which rewards you with a Super Rocket Radar. This allows you to battle Giovanni, who will face you with Crypto-Regigigas. You can find all tasks and rewards of the special research here.
- From 12 km eggs, Larvitar*, Ganovil, Gladiantri*, Skallyk*, Kapuno*, Pam-Pam* and Molunk hatch.
- You can receive mysterious parts from field research.
- Team GO Rocket appears more frequently at stops and in balloons.
- You can use charge TMs so that your crypto-Pokémon forget the charge move Frustration.
The Pokémon marked with an asterisk can be found as Shiny versions with luck.
What new cryptos are available? The grunts and also the leaders Arlo, Cliff and Sierra will use different crypto-Pokémon from the start of the event. These are: Nebulak, Rihorn, Schmerbe, Koknodon, Schilterus, Rotomurf and Lichtel. If you’re lucky, you can even catch them as Shiny.
On Reddit, it is also mentioned that three more crypto-Pokémon can be earned:
- Crypto-Dratini* from Cliff
- Crypto-Knofensa* from Arlo
- Zobiris* from Sierra
What are the highlights? Participating in the event can be really rewarding for you, as there are new strong Pokémon. Crypto-Dratini is celebrated by many because its evolution Dragonran is among the best dragon attackers in Pokémon GO. The crypto variant packs even more of a punch.
Additionally, there are some cryptos that appear during the Halloween event and are really strong.
You can also have your crypto-Pokémon forget the weak attack Frustration and teach the fighters something stronger.
Why can’t I see the new research? If you don’t see the special field research Showdown in the Shadows, the event has either not started or you have an old Rocket research open that you must complete first.
