What kind of event is this? As every Wednesday, there is also a raid hour today, December 8. During this event, you will encounter legendary Pokémon in level 5 raids for one hour in almost all gyms. Today, like last week, you will encounter Zekrom and Reshiram.
Raid Hour with Zekrom and Reshiram – Start and Counters
When does it start? The raid hour starts as usual at 6:00 PM local time and lasts for one hour. Before that, you can already discover the dark eggs over the gyms that will hatch on time during the event. At 7:00 PM, the raids will become less.
Zekrom – The best counters
Zekrom is a legendary Pokémon from Generation 5 and belongs to the types Dragon and Electric. In battle against Zekrom, use the attacks of the types Ice, Ground, Dragon, and Fairy, as it is sensitive to these counters (via pokebattler.com):
- (Crypto-) Mamoswine with Mud Slap and Avalanche
- (Crypto-) Dragonite with Dragon Tail and Draco Meteor
- Palkia with Dragon Tail and Draco Meteor

Reshiram – The best counters
Reshiram is also a legendary Pokémon from Generation 5. It belongs to the types Dragon and Fire. Its weaknesses are attacks from Rock, Ground, and Dragon. Take advantage of this weakness and use the following counters (via pokebattler.com):
- (Crypto-) Salamence with Dragon Tail and Outrage
- (Crypto-) Dragonite with Dragon Tail and Outrage
- (Crypto) Tyranitar with Smack Down and Stone Edge
- Rhyperior with Mud Slap and Rock Wrecker
- Rayquaza with Dragon Tail and Outrage
- Rampardos with Smack Down and Rock Slide
- Garchomp with Dragon Tail and Dragon Claw
- Mega-Gyarados with Dragon Tail and Outrage
- Zekrom with Fire Breath and Outrage

Is the raid hour worth it today?
Are there shiny Zekrom and shiny Reshiram? Yes, both legendary monsters can be caught in their shiny form with a bit of luck. Look out for the slight color change of Zekrom’s body and the golden stripes on Reshiram’s neck and tail.
Are Zekrom and Reshiram worth it? Both Zekrom and Reshiram are among the best attackers in Pokémon GO. The reason is their strong stats in attack and stamina. And you can also rely on them in the Master League (via pvpoke.com).
So if you’re looking for a strong attacker or need one for PvP battles, you should take your chance today. With a bit of luck, you might even encounter a shiny specimen.
