Pokémon GO has changed some moves and Pokémon in PvP during Season 6. We show you what is new now.
What is new? The team from Pokémon GO has made some changes to the current PvP season. The damage of 7 moves has been changed. Additionally, certain moves can now be taught to other Pokémon.
This affects the rest of the season and leads to some team changes. We show you the changes here in an overview.
Moves Changes from January 5
What exactly changes? To balance the game, the damage of attacks has been increased and decreased. In trainer battles, this has now changed to:
- Ember: The Fire-type fast move now does more damage
- Waterfall: The Water-type charge move now does more damage
- Karate Chop: The Fighting-type fast move now generates more energy
- Bubble: The Water-type fast move now does less damage
- Razor Leaf: The Grass-type fast move now does less damage
- Aerial Ace: The Flying-type charge move now does less damage
- Rock Slide: The Rock-type charge move now does less damage
- Shadow Ball: The Ghost-type charge move now does less damage
The following moves have changed which Pokémon can learn them.
- Weather Ball (Fire): Vulpix and Ninetales (Kanto) can now learn this Fire move
- Weather Ball (Ice): Vulpix and Ninetales (Alola) can now learn this Ice move
- Weather Ball (Water): Quagsire can now learn this Water move
- Icy Wind: Swalot can now learn this Ice move
- Ice Beam: Lapras can now learn this Ice move
- Shadow Ball: Lapras can now learn this Ghost move
- Triple Axel: Porygon2 can now learn this Normal move
- Mud Shot: Excadrill can now learn this Ground-type fast move
Dates and Rewards – What you need to know
In the coming weeks, there are some important start dates for Great, Ultra, and Master Leagues.
- Great League from January 11 at 10 PM to January 25 at 10 PM
- Ultra League (with Premier Cup) from January 25 at 10 PM to February 8 at 10 PM
- Master League (with Premier Cup) from February 8 at 10 PM to February 15 at 10 PM.
- All 3 leagues + Premier Cups are available from February 15 at 10 PM to February 22 at 10 PM
- The Kanto Cup with a CP limit of 1,500 runs from February 22 at 10 PM to March 1 at 10 PM.
Rewards:
- At rank 19 you will receive a Premium Charge TM
- If you are at least rank 19 at the end of the season, you will also receive a Premium Fast TM
- At rank 20, you are guaranteed to get Swablu, which will be available in Pokémon GO for the first time. It will also appear as a reward at higher ranks
Who is it worth for? In November, Niantic announced the biggest update that Pokémon GO has ever seen. They increased the maximum level to 50 and fundamentally changed the PvP. So if you haven’t looked into trainer battles for a while, you can now get to know the new system.
Instead of 10 ranks, there are now 24 ranks. Along with new Pokémon encounters and exclusive rewards, depending on the rank achieved.
