In Pokémon GO, trainers can not only collect monsters but also fight against the villains of Team GO Rocket. According to a recent discovery, they are said to be getting some reinforcements soon. We at MeinMMO will reveal what this is all about and whom the community suspects.
What is Team GO Rocket? Those who are familiar with the Pokémon anime know that Ash and his friends have repeatedly faced troubles with Jessie and James from Team Rocket. And of course, respective villains should not be missing in Pokémon GO.
Thus, the Rocket Grunts take over PokéStops several times a day or challenge players to battles in their balloons. They are directed by the Rocket bosses Arlo, Sierra, and Cliff, as well as their big leader Giovanni. Jessie and James also occasionally make appearances in the game for certain events.
However, the Pokéminers have found clues that suggest there will soon be new Rocket members. We will show you what this is about.
The Pokéminers are a group of dataminers who regularly search the game code of Pokémon GO for new information. In the past, they have been able to make very reliable statements about upcoming new features and planned Pokémon debuts.
However, the data is not official information, so Niantic has the opportunity at any time to change this in the game code or decide against a release.
This is what the Pokéminers found about Team GO Rocket
As the Pokéminers announced on the evening of November 3, 2022, via their official Twitter account, they found clues to a new character for Team GO Rocket in the source code of Pokémon GO during their last search.
They write (via twitter.com): “A new Rocket character type has just been released, with a higher priority than Giovanni. His name is ‘Invasion Generic’ and is linked to one of the recently added 100 new event badges, but at this point, we do not know which event badge it is.”
What could this mean? It suggests that there may soon be another member of Team GO Rocket in the game as part of a new event. Since this character, for example, takes precedence over Giovanni, Sierra, Arlo, Cliff, and the current Grunts in balloons, it could hint at a new Rocket boss.
However, not all trainers in the reddit community agree on this. User glencurio is not convinced, due to the designation in the game code, that it is a boss that outranks Giovanni.
He writes (via reddit.com): “It’s called ‘Invasion Generic’, so it can’t be someone who ranks above Giovanni in terms of lore. It could simply be another type of generic grunt, but the priority is higher due to its relevance for the event.”
However, it is currently unclear who this new character is, when he will come into the game, and what prerequisites must be met to find him.

Which character do trainers suspect?
Even though no further information about the new member of Team GO Rocket is known yet, trainers in the reddit community have already made various speculations. Some primarily believe it will be one of the various criminal gangs from the different regions (via reddit.com):
- PM_ME_PRETTY_EYES suspects Team Skull from the Alola region: “Invasion makes me think of Ultra Beasts, maybe a Team Skull takeover or something like that.”
- xMyst87 could imagine one of the two criminal gangs from the Hoenn region: “Maybe a few people from Team Aqua/Magma.”
- And also Rainbro_Vash thinks Team Aqua/Magma would be cool, but believes more in Team Rainbow Rocket: “It would certainly be cool with Aqua/Magma… ‘Invasion’ somehow makes me think of Rainbow Rocket and the fact that Giovanni is the boss of all other team leaders there.”
Further speculations: However, other trainers are less inclined to believe in the lesser members of the criminal gangs, but rather see one of the bosses of these organizations behind it. Among others, G-Cis Harmonia from Team Plasma, Cyrus from Team Galactic, and Flordelis from Team Flare are named.
But even Madame Boss, Giovanni’s mother, would be conceivable for some. In the comments, one can read the following (via reddit.com):

- AForce5223: “I would love to kick G-Cis Harmonia’s butt again.”
- latetotheprompt: “It’s clear that Giovanni’s mother will give him a hard time.”
