The release of Mega Rayquaza in Pokémon GO is drawing closer. Now a find shows how strong the monster will likely be. Spoiler: Quite strong.
How powerful will Mega Rayquaza be? Given that Rayquaza is already one of the best attackers in Pokémon GO, it should come as no surprise that Mega Rayquaza will be extremely powerful.
A new find from the Pokeminers now shows how high its stats are expected to be – and the dataminers noticed an interesting detail. We embed the Pokeminers’ post on Twitter here:
What makes it special? According to Pokémon GO expert Teban54 in the Pokémon GO subreddit, the stats confirm that Mega Rayquaza will receive a special calculation (via reddit).
When Pokémon are added to the game, a formula calculates their stats based on the values from the main games of that Pokémon. Some particularly powerful Pokémon are nerfed by another 9% compared to the main game.
This affects monsters that exceed 4,000 CP at perfect IVs and level 40, including most legendary Pokémon (via reddit).
However, the Mega form of Rayquaza is currently only expected to receive a 3% nerf, making it even more powerful than anticipated. This is fitting since there has been another case where this calculation was applied: Proto-Kyogre and Proto-Groudon.
Both are among the best that can be encountered in Pokémon GO. And Mega Rayquaza will, with its stats, be the best Dragon and Flying attacker in the game. This is something to keep an eye on.
The only downside: So far, this is just datamining, and the data were reportedly removed shortly thereafter according to Pokeminers. Whether Mega Rayquaza will actually have these powerful stats in the end remains to be seen.
When will Mega Rayquaza appear in Pokémon GO?
How to get Mega Rayquaza: The monster has been announced for four dates this summer. It will appear in Mega Raids during the following events:
- At the local GO Fest in London (local only)
- GO Fest in Osaka (local only)
- GO Fest in New York City (local only)
- And at the global Pokémon GO Fest. This means Mega Rayquaza is expected to appear worldwide on Sunday, August 27, 2023.
The monster will not only be very powerful itself but also boosts other monsters with attacks from the types Flying, Psychic, and Dragon. However, to obtain it, you will need to collect Mega Energy and the item “Meteorite.” The path to Mega Rayquaza will not be easy.
