In Pokémon GO, the tasks that you need to complete for Level 48 are now known. Players from Australia shared these. It is now clear: this is a big time sink.
What’s going on with leveling? Niantic recently officially announced that they will raise the level cap from Level 40 by ten more levels. The new Level 50 will then be the highest cap that players can reach. The system is currently being tested in Australia, and players are reporting which tasks are related to the level-ups.
After testers were to take snapshots with their buddy for a week for Level 46, the new tasks are now known.
Level 48 spans over eight weeks. Provided you are diligent. Otherwise, it could take even longer.
Requirements for Level 48
What has been shown? Trainer dabomerest shared a screenshot from Pokémon GO on reddit. It shows the four tasks that a trainer must complete to reach Level 48.
It also becomes clear that at this level, you need to accumulate 21,000,000 experience points.
The tasks:
- Receive 20 gifts from your buddy
- Earn 300 hearts with your buddy
- Walk 200 km with your buddy
- Walk 25 km in a week – eight times
This is the special part: The task with the kilometer requirement takes at least eight weeks to complete. Provided you actually walk 25 kilometers every week.
If you fail to do it in one week, you will automatically have to wait another week until the weekly rewards are credited to you on Monday.

What is still unclear: Some trainers hope that the task will be counted differently. They wonder: If I walk 50 kilometers in one week, does that count twice?
Currently, however, it is assumed that you should walk at least 25 kilometers for eight weeks. The tester from Australia, theesado, writes on Twitter: “I suspect that when they say ‘in one week’ they mean the Adventure Sync rhythm. I will try to quickly cover the next 50 kilometers if double counting is possible.”
