What kind of event is this? The next Catching Skills event has been announced. It will take place on Saturday, February 7, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM. The event occurs repeatedly in Pokémon GO, featuring different contents.
The focus is on your catching skills, and you will be rewarded for good, great, and fantastic throws. Also, 3 Shinies are part of the event, which can appear with a higher probability as Shinies.

Which Shinies are involved? During the event, you can encounter Choreogel in field research as well as in both the free and paid limited research with an increased chance of appearing as a Shiny. If you are after the Shiny, you should focus on field research.
Which Choreogel you can receive depends on your location. The following forms are available in the respective regions of the world:
- Choreogel (Flamenco style): Europe, Middle East, and Africa
- Choreogel (Cheerleading style): American continent
- Choreogel (Hula style): African, Asian, Pacific, and Caribbean islands
- Choreogel (Buyo style): Asia-Pacific region
If you are in Germany, you can expect to encounter Choreogel in Flamenco style.
Moreover, you can also encounter Hoothoot and Staralili in the wild and in field research. These two Pokémon also have an increased chance to appear as Shinies during the short event.
What bonuses are available in the event? In addition to field research focusing on your precision when catching Pokémon, there are also 2 suitable bonuses.
- Double Catch Experience Points when achieving good, great, or fantastic throws
- More Catch Candies when achieving good, great, or fantastic throws
What is included in the limited research? During the event, there will be both a free limited research and a paid variant.
In the free version, you can receive encounters with Choreogel as well as experience points and Stardust.
In the paid version, which you can purchase for $1.99 (about 2 €), you can receive additional encounters with Choreogel, experience points, and Stardust. If you obtain the research through the ticket in the Pokémon GO web store, you will also receive 2 special candies.
