Can we soon trade over long distances in Pokémon GO? A new datamining suggests so.
Those who want to trade in Pokémon GO need to meet with friends in the real world to make a trade. Trading over long distances, for instance, with friends from other countries – has so far not been possible.
It has been seven years since, trading was introduced in Pokémon GO. Now it seems that the feature may actually get the upgrade that many have long been wishing for.
As Pokémon GO Hub reports, various data found in a current datamining strongly suggest that work is being done on a corresponding adjustment.
What does the datamining reveal about trading in Pokémon GO?
Here’s what the data show: According to Pokémon GO Hub, various contents related to “Remote Trading” have emerged in the data.
The following contents can be identified:
- An icon related to Remote Trading.
- A new friendship level called “Best Friends Plus.” It could be that reaching this level is necessary to trade over long distances.
- A daily trading limit.
- And the possibility to receive trade offers even when you are not online. However, you can only have one trade active at a time. So if you send out a request, you have to wait until it’s completed before you can make another trade.
How certain is it that the feature will come? On one hand, it’s an exciting hint that such data is emerging. It at least shows that relevant content is being worked on. At the same time, there have been instances in the past where data was found, but nothing materialized from it for a long time. So, it must be noted: These are unofficial pieces of information that have not yet been confirmed.
However, if a corresponding feature were to appear, it would offer the community many opportunities to trade and expand their collections. Just think about trading Pokémon with players from other regions of the world that are only available there.
However, it is also to be considered: There was indeed a possibility to trade Pokémon over distance – namely during the COVID-19 pandemic. At that time, players could trade over distances of up to 50 kilometers. However, it was not possible globally even then. It remains to be seen what distances would actually be an option this time.
