What is the spotlight hour? The spotlight hour takes place every Tuesday evening. It is also included in the list of events in May. As usual, it starts at 6:00 PM.
From the start of the event, you can use the hour to encounter the highlighted Pokémon in large quantities. On top of that, there will be a bonus.
What is the Pokémon on May 6? The Pokémon of the day is Coiffwaff. It will appear almost everywhere during the spotlight hour on May 6 for 60 minutes.
What bonus is there? This spotlight hour offers double the number of candies for each catch you make during the event. This applies to Coiffwaff, as well as all other Pokémon you catch.
How useful is Coiffwaff in Pokémon GO?
What’s special about Coiffwaff: Bad news first: Coiffwaff is not a viable attacker in either the PvP battle league or in raids. So, you can safely ignore it if you are only looking for a strong attacker.

For the form change, you always need 25 candies, plus 10,000 stardust. So, it is worth collecting as many candies as possible in advance. The spotlight hour is perfect for that.
Is there a Shiny Coiffwaff? Yes, the shiny variant of the Pokémon is also in the game. You can theoretically catch it during the spotlight hour, but the chances are not increased.
How else can I make use of the hour? Aside from Coiffwaff, you can also apply the candy bonus to any other Pokémon you catch during that hour. For example, you could catch a raid Pokémon or a Dynamax Pokémon and also receive double candies for that. If you use a Nanab berry, the number will be doubled again. That can be worth it.
