Collectors, take note! In Pokémon GO, there’s soon a great opportunity to secure several Shinys at once.
Which event is it about? Pokémon GO has announced a new research day. It is themed “Cuddly Buddy” and focuses on small bear Pokémon. The catch: They all have an increased Shiny chance.
When is the research day? The research day takes place on Saturday, March 29, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
Which Pokémon are involved? The four Pokémon featured are:
- Teddiursa
- Petznief
- Pam-Pam
- Velursi
You will encounter these four Pokémon during the event in field research when you complete them. The encounters that you unlock through the research have an increased Shiny chance.
This creates a great event if you are looking for Shinys. And the four also have evolutions!

This is what the Shinys look like: Unfortunately, there are a few Shinys in Pokémon GO that don’t differ much from the originals. Luckily, this is not the case for most of the four bears and their evolutions. Here’s a small overview of the Pokémon, their evolutions, and the Shiny variants:
Which Pokémon is particularly exciting? For many, Shiny Pam-Pam is an interesting target, as you typically get the little panda bear from eggs. Getting a Shiny is not easy. The research day could be a very good opportunity to get the shiny Pokémon.
But the others are of course worth catching too! Ursaluna, the final evolution of Teddiursa, is a really good option in the Master League if you like playing PvP.
How to get the Shinys? A research day is based on completing as many field researches as possible within the event period – as the Shinys are hidden behind them, if you are lucky.
This means you have to walk a lot. Because you only get new researches from PokéStops. The path is therefore:
- Visit a Pokéstop
- Pick up a research task
- Already head towards the next stop
- Complete the research task in the meantime
- Pick up the next task
It may even be advisable to delete more difficult or especially time-consuming tasks and switch to others. This way, you can use the time more efficiently.
What else does the event bring? During the event, the following Pokémon will be roaming in the wild. While they can also appear as Shiny, there is no increased chance for them:
- Wiesor
- Bummelz
- Bidiza
- Picochilla
- Scoppel
Additionally, there will be a paid limited research in the shop, which is expected to cost $2 (equivalent in euros). This will give you more encounters with the four bears, which also have an increased Shiny chance. Keep in mind that the limited research is only completable within the event period and will disappear at 5:00 PM, no matter how far you are.
