When is the raid day? The raid with Hisui-Tornupto will take place on Sunday, January 14, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. You can find more specific information about the event further down.
What kind of Pokémon is it? The Hisui form originates from the game “Pokémon Legends: Arceus” and represents the final evolution of Cyndaquil. It belongs to the Fire/Ghost type. It is one of several Hisui Pokémon that are the focus this season.

How strong is Hisui-Tornupto in Pokémon GO?
As an opponent: Hisui-Tornupto will debut as a level 3 boss in Pokémon GO. Therefore, you should be able to defeat the monster alone with the right counters, or at worst in pairs. The party bonus helps achieve a quick raid victory.
In your team: Currently, Hisui-Tornupto is not expected to be an overpowering monster. Given its stats, it will be outclassed by other Pokémon in both the Fire and Ghost types. This is shown in an analysis by Pokémon GO Hub.

Currently, it is more likely that this raid day will be an event for trainers aiming to complete their Pokédex or gain XP from raids. Additionally, you have the chance to secure the shiny variant if you are a collector of shiny Pokémon.
What happens on the raid day with Hisui-Tornupto?
These are the bonuses: During the event period, Hisui-Tornupto will appear as a level 3 raid boss in most gyms. You can also catch its shiny version if you are lucky. The chance to get a shiny Hisui-Tornupto will be increased during the event.
To participate in raids, there will be up to 5 additional raid passes available during the event when you spin the gyms. Keep in mind that the last free pass must be used up for you to receive the next one.
Additionally, the remote raid pass limit will be increased to 20 remote raids on that day.
Apart from these free bonuses, the event will also bring a ticket for about 5 US dollars (Euro price still unknown, probably similar) to the shop. This will give you:
- 8 additional raid passes from photo discs
- An increased chance of XL special candies from raids
- 50% more XP from raids
- Double stardust from raids
