In Pokémon GO everything is currently about Team GO Rocket and the Crypto Monsters. And you should take advantage of the most important bonus of the event.
What kind of event is this? In Pokémon GO since Saturday, January 27, 2024 at 00:00 the new event “Stolen Treasures” has been running. This brings some content with it:
- Team GO Rocket appears more frequently and Giovanni now appears with Crypto-Kyogre

What is the most important bonus? A crucial bonus is the ability to unlearn the move “Frustration” during this event. All Crypto Monsters have this useless move as soon as you catch them. You want to get rid of this useless move because only then will they become truly useful. However, this is only possible during Rocket events.
So you have 6 days from the start of the event until February 1 at 10:00 PM to get rid of the move.
How to unlearn Frustration in Pokémon GO – and why?
This is how you unlearn Frustration: During the Rocket event, it’s very simple: You select a Charged TM and use it on the respective Crypto Pokémon. It will now receive a random move instead of Frustration. Use as many Charged TMs as needed until you have the move you want. Alternatively, you can use a Premium Charged TM to directly select a specific move or receive a special move that the Pokémon can only learn during certain events like a ‘Community Day’.
Important: From this point on, the monster will no longer learn Frustration, and in the future, you can swap moves for it as you wish.
Can I also unlearn Frustration through Purification
? In principle, yes, that would be the “standard way” to get rid of the move. But with Purification, the Pokémon also loses its Crypto status – and with it, a 20 percent attack bonus.
This is why it makes sense to first unlearn the move from strong Crypto Pokémon and second to keep the Crypto status: The strongest attackers in Pokémon GO are even more powerful in raids when they retain their attack bonus as Crypto Pokémon.
Which Pokémon are worth it? By now, there are many Crypto Pokémon where it is worth teaching them a new move. Especially Pokémon that are known to be strong raid attackers are usually top candidates for this. A selection of Pokémon that you should unlearn Frustration from can be found here.
