Since early December, the big update in Pokémon GO is live. Now the developers show you where to get more XP, where Stardust plays an important role, and what has changed in Pokémon encounters.
What’s new? Niantic shared an update with the community on the evening of December 7, 2020. They have now extensively narrated what has changed for you in the game. Because at the beginning of December, the big “GO Beyond” expansion was released, which made several changes to the game. It was known which areas would change but not exactly how.
With the new announcement from Niantic, clarity is brought to the matter. We show you where you now get more XP and how many experience points those are. For those of you who are currently leveling up, this is important information.

What has changed regarding Stardust and Buddy Pokémon?
Pokémon encounters: Something has changed for you when catching Pokémon.
- The chance to encounter Farbigo after a snapshot has been increased.
- Nanab Berries now calm Pokémon completely during encounters.
- You now receive even more candies when catching Pokémon if you use the silver nanab berry.
Quests: One quest has changed its reward.
- The task “Land 3 excellent throws in a row” now rewards you with an encounter with Kaumalat instead of Larvitar.
Buddy Pokémon: You can now earn up to three hearts a day when battling with your buddy. Golden Razz Berries and silver nanab berries are now more effective when given to your buddy.
Additionally, buddies are more likely to go into “excited mode”, in which you earn double hearts.
Stardust: When feeding arena defenders with berries, you now receive 30 instead of 20 Stardust for that. Also, you now receive more Stardust through weekly rewards with adventure sync.
How do you like the changes? Do you think it’s good that activities now provide more XP, or should Niantic have improved rewards in other areas as well? Let us know here on MeinMMO in the comments.
