There is finally new information about the costs and the shiny rate of the global Hoenn Tour in Pokémon GO.
On February 25 and 26, 2023, the global Hoenn Tour is taking place in Pokémon GO. However, there have been uncertainties regarding the event’s cost and how the shiny rate will be during the event.
Developer Niantic has now spoken out to the portal Eurogamer.
What is known about the costs: Niantic stated to Eurogamer that there will be no “big” event ticket for the global Hoenn Tour. The majority of the event will be playable for free.
Currently, the only exception is the masterwork research with shiny Jirachi. There is a ticket for this, which will be offered between February 20 and March 20 for 4.99 dollars (or a corresponding price in the local currency).
What is known about the shinies: Regardless of the ticket purchase for the research, selected Pokémon species will receive a shiny boost during the event, Niantic explains to Eurogamer. Which ones are still unclear.
There is no fundamentally increased shiny chance, but at least for some monsters, there will be an increased shiny rate.

What is included in the global Hoenn Tour: The global Hoenn Tour takes place on February 25 and 26 from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM local time.
There will be various content revolving around the Hoenn region. These include:
- The monsters from the region are the focus
- There are rotating habitats with different spawns
- Proto-Groudon and Proto-Kyogre appear in new raids
- There will be a special research called Legendenjagd around the two monsters
- You choose a side – Ruby or Sapphire
- There is a changed egg pool, including the regional Pokémon from the Hoenn region

The global Hoenn Tour takes place a week after the local variant in Las Vegas, which differs slightly from the global event. For Las Vegas, for example, there is a ticket and some paid add-ons that bring additional bonuses. However, this can only be utilized if you are on-site.
