In a few days, the global GO Fest 2023 will start in Pokémon GO. We from MeinMMO give you 5 important tips on how to best prepare for the event so that you can make the most of it.
What event is it? One of the biggest events of the year in Pokémon GO is the annual GO Fest. After its live events have already started locally in London, Osaka, and New York, you can look forward to special spawns and bonuses all over the world this coming weekend.
But before the huge event starts, you should still make some preparations to fully benefit from the GO Fest. Below, we have summarized 5 important tips for you.
When does the GO Fest take place? The Pokémon GO Fest 2023 runs on the weekend of August 26 and 27 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. each day.
Update from August 22: Niantic has changed the limit for remote raids for the GO Fest. We have adjusted this in the article accordingly.
1. Make room for important items
Why do you need to make space? To have enough items in your inventory that you actually need during the GO Fest, you should make space in your item bag. Get rid of items that you don’t use frequently and keep items that can be useful during the event.
Alternatively, you can also expand your item bag. Niantic recently increased the storage limit for that purpose.
Which items do you need?
To make the best use of all the content during the event, you should definitely have the following items:
Balls: The most important thing during the GO Fest is enough balls. If you want to play actively on both days, we recommend a supply of at least 1,000 balls, so you don’t constantly have to restock. It’s best to go straight for Ultra Balls, as these retain the monsters better.
Lures: To attract the monsters from the respective habitats, suitable lures are recommended. These last for one hour during the event. If you want to play all day, you should have at least 8 lures ready per day. If you want to equip several PokéStops with them, then accordingly more.
Incense: Besides lures, incense is also particularly important during the GO Fest. Especially trainers who have a ticket can attract special spawns this way. However, incense also offers a good opportunity for trainers without a ticket to catch more specimens. Incense will again be active for one hour, so you need 8 of them per day.
Berries: If you want to collect extra candies while catching or control monsters that are hard to catch, suitable berries are recommended. Focus mainly on Razz Berries, silver Razz Berries, and golden Razz Berries.
Raid Passes: During the two-day event, you can encounter many cool and especially strong monsters in the raids. For example, the Proto Pokémon return to the raids and Mega Rayquaza is making its worldwide debut in the game. If you don’t want to miss these monsters, you should have enough raid passes ready.
Trainers with a ticket receive 9 additional raid passes when they turn in at the gym. If that’s not enough or if you don’t have a ticket, you should also stock up on a few remote raid passes and premium battle passes.
Update from August 22: As Niantic has announced, there will be no limit on remote raids during the event.
A first glimpse of Mega Rayquaza can be seen in the following video:
Revives & Potions: To be able to use your best attackers optimally after the battle, you should also have some revives and potions ready.
2. Make space in your Pokémon storage
Why is this important? In addition to plenty of items that you will need on these two days, you will also need some room for your monsters. After all, you want to catch as many as possible during the event. So make enough space in your storage and sort out thoroughly.
For the first hours, it’s best to have 500 free slots so you don’t have to send them away too quickly during the event.
How can you sort quickly? To create space as quickly as possible, we recommend using the tag and filter functions in the game. For example, by entering 0*,1*,2*
, you get all monsters that have a rating of 2 stars or worse. During the event, you can also add Age0
to see only monsters that you caught in the last 24 hours.
3. Plan a route
What is this good for? So you can catch as many monsters as possible while also passing plenty of PokéStops and gyms, you should ideally plan a fixed route before the event. This is especially useful because moving attracts more monsters. Through the stops and gyms, you also have optimal access to items and raids.
A larger park is a good place for that, where you can walk your rounds. However, it’s best to choose a location you already know. This way, you won’t waste valuable time to orient yourself.
4. Arrange raids
Why is this useful? If you don’t just want to catch Pokémon in the wild, but also want that one or strong specimen from the raid, you should find like-minded players. Therefore, it’s best to arrange with friends beforehand for the corresponding raids and combine them with your planned route. Also, consider which raid bosses are particularly interesting for you and which you don’t really need.
How to find like-minded players: If you don’t have a local community, you can communicate with other trainers nearby using the Campfire app. There, you can not only chat privately or in groups, or send a smoke signal when you want to do raids, but also host your raid for other players remotely.
5. Think about tech and supplies
What do you need that for? If you want to play all day, you should also pay attention to the appropriate technical equipment and supplies. Therefore, be sure to bring enough drinks and something to eat so you don’t have to buy something on the go. Also, pay attention to the weather conditions in your area. So, when it’s hot, think not only of sufficient drinks but also of sun protection.
To charge your battery while on the go, also remember to bring a power bank and a suitable charging cable. Don’t forget to charge your smartphone properly the night before, so you start the event with a full battery.
Here we show you the best power banks 2023.
