This event is currently running: In Pokémon GO, players can currently take advantage of the Chinese New Year event. This brings many red Pokémon into the game. Included is also Flampion, which you should definitely secure.
These bonuses are actually in the event: Players can currently receive special candy from gifts from their friends, and there is an increased chance of becoming lucky friends. There should also be a bonus active that increases the chance of lucky Pokémon. However, something seems to have gone wrong.
Players miss lucky trades
This is the problem: Both on Reddit and in our Facebook group, players report that they have not noticed any increased chance of lucky Pokémon at the event so far. These special Pokémon are sometimes received when exchanging monsters with friends.
Accordingly, players expected to collect more lucky monsters during their trades than usual. However, this has apparently not been the case – or did just a lot of players have bad luck?
The community is right: To clarify this issue, the experts from “TheSilphRoad” have collected data. And it shows: The players’ feeling has not deceived them. Normally, the chance for lucky Pokémon during trades is about 5%, which is also influenced by the age of the Pokémon. According to TheSilphRoad, the rate was 9% during the last New Year event. And this year?
This year, the rate has probably hardly been increased. In the first 24 hours of the event, TheSilphRoad collected data from 1,413 trades. Only 72 lucky Pokémon were obtained, which corresponds to a rate of about 5.1%.
Although it is admitted that the rate should not be set as high as last year, the data suggests that the rate has simply not been increased at all or only minimally. Whether this is a mistake that could be corrected soon remains open.
