In Pokémon GO a new find is generating a lot of discussion among trainers. We at MeinMMO have taken a look at which monster has been discovered and we show you the reactions of the players.
What is this find? The Pokéminers, a group of dataminers, periodically search the game code of Pokémon GO. They then make their findings publicly available to other players.
In their current search, the Pokéminers have stumbled across a new Pokémon, which is generating considerable discussion in the community. We explain why.
This new Pokémon has been found
As can be seen from the current reddit post by user martycochrane, the Pokéminers have discovered not only a sticker of the Ultra Beast Masskito, which is celebrating its release at the GO Fest in Seattle, but also a new Mega evolution. According to reports, the first data regarding Mega-Alakazam has been placed in the game.
While finds of Pokémon, like the new legendary Galar Pokémon, usually lead to considerable anticipation among trainers on social media, the Psychic Pokémon Mega-Alakazam, on the other hand, is generating some discussion.
Opinions of trainers on the find are divided
Desire for a different Mega: Looking at the comments on Twitter and reddit regarding the new find by the Pokéminers, it becomes apparent that opinions are quite divided. The reason for this is a prior find from early July 2022.
In this case, the Pokéminers also stumbled upon Mega-Scizor alongside the costumed Pokémon that were found during the anniversary event. Some would prefer to see the Bug and Steel Pokémon first in the game and are therefore hoping for a quick release.
Alternatively, they would also be happy with other Megas, like Mega-Mewtwo. But even there, trainers are not necessarily in agreement. In the comments, you can read the following on reddit:
- krispyboiz: ‘Hmm cute. I think Scizor makes more sense for the next Mega, as we haven’t had a Bug Mega since Beedrill two years ago and Steel is also getting a bit old.
But Alakazam could simply be there for whenever in the future. That doesn’t necessarily mean soon. Personally, I would like to see another fighting Mega like Medicham, preferably after Scizor.’
- Jifjafjoef: ‘Bruh, Medicham also has a Mega. How many fighting Megas do we have to go through before we get to Lucario? Would Medicham be the last one?’
- dylan2451: ‘The asset update from July 1st (which included the party hat Charmander and cake Pikachu) also had Mega-Scizor, so I still think this could come first.’
- Teban: ‘An unpopular opinion that probably won’t come true, but if I were a Niantic planner, I would spread out the “big” Megas (Mewtwo X/Y, Lucario, Metagross, Garchomp, etc.) at regular intervals with a series of fillers in between, rather than holding them all until the end. 3-5 years without a single exciting Mega is a quick way to kill the hype for the feature.’
- duel_wielding_rouge: ‘I expected this year’s GO Fest or the Hyper Bonus to gift us one of the Mega-Mewtwo.’
‘I am ready for Mega-Alakazam’
However, not all trainers would be sad if Mega-Alakazam came to the game first. User GZBZM states on reddit that it has the fourth highest attack of all Pokémon, including those still unreleased, such as Mega-Mewtwo.
This is also confirmed by the current numbers from gamepress. With a strong attack and a decent moveset, Mega-Alakazam could rank among the 10 best Psychic attackers in Pokémon GO after its release.
Further positive feedback: But other trainers are also looking forward to a release of Mega-Alakazam and can hardly wait. This is particularly evident in the comments on Twitter:
- poke_master420: ‘I am ready for Mega-Alakazam.’
- Zabryel: ‘I can’t wait to evolve my queen.’
- Aniol97: ‘I hope there’s an event for Abra.’
- BrettPogo: ‘Hopefully it arrives before 2025, my new Shundo [Shiny and perfect stats Alakazam] is ready for a Mega!’
- brad23517790: ‘Is Mega-Alakazam coming in August?’
- EsterNova8: ‘Can’t wait to get this ‘spoonAholic’… Oh wait, Mega-Scizor was also added. So it’ll take a few months as always.’
When will Mega-Alakazam come? Since the data is not official information, but rather findings from the game’s source code, Niantic can change this data at any time or even decide against a release.
Whether and when it will eventually be the case that Mega-Alakazam enters the game and whether other Megas will be unlocked beforehand remains to be seen for now. Should there be official information from Niantic, you will find out about it here at MeinMMO.
What do you think of the latest find by the Pokéminers? Would you be happy about a release of Mega-Alakazam? Or do you hope that another Mega enters the game first? Feel free to let us know your opinion here on MeinMMO in the comments and exchange ideas with other trainers.
On Sunday, the next event in Pokémon GO is coming up. We will show you how to make the most of the Community Day with Starly.
