In Pokémon GO, Moltres appears for the first time in its Dynamax form. We will show you how to best prepare for the battle.
When will Dyna-Moltres be available? You can find and challenge Dyna-Moltres for the first time on Monday, February 3, 2025, in the game. You have from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM to find the Pokémon on Dyna-Monday in a large part of the power sources.
After Dyna-Monday, Moltres will remain available in Dynamax battles with 5-stars until Monday, February 10, 2025, at 9:00 PM.
Since Moltres is a legendary Dynamax Pokémon, you should be well-prepared for battle to defeat the Pokémon and add it to your collection.
1. Bring your best counters against Dynamax-Moltres
What weaknesses does Moltres have? The Pokémon possesses the types Fire and Flying. Therefore, it has a double weakness against Rock and a single weakness against Water and Electric. You can see how type effectiveness works in our type chart for Pokémon GO.
What should I use to attack Moltres? Although Moltres has a double weakness to Rock, you can’t bring strong Rock attackers for the battle. The reason is that there are currently no Dynamax monsters of the Rock type, which has already caused criticism from the community.
For the types Water and Electric, you have some options to rely on for the battle. Remember to teach your Pokémon the correct Dynamax attack.
- Gigantamax Blastoise with Water Gun
- Gigantamax Kingler with Bubble
- Gigantamax Rhyperior with Spark Jump
- Dynamax Blastoise with Water Gun
- Dynamax Rhyperior with Spark Jump
- Dynamax Inteleon with Water Gun
- Dynamax Kingler with Bubble
- Dynamax Zapdos with Thunder Shock
What should I use to defend against Moltres? To absorb the strong damage from Moltres, there are currently not many options suitable for this purpose. Depending on what attacks Moltres has, you should choose between 2 to 4 options.
- Gigantamax Blastoise with Water Gun
- Dynamax Blastoise with Water Gun
If Moltres does not have Fire attacks but relies on Wing Attack and Ancient Power instead, you can also use the following Pokémon for defense:
- Dynamax Metagross with Zen Headbutt
- Dynamax Excadrill with Metal Claw
2. Switch your Pokémon in and out according to their roles
Dyna-Moltres is a legendary Pokémon and thus harder to defeat. You need to be a bit more strategic and not just go in with one Pokémon on constant attack.
Use your defensive Pokémon to absorb attacks from Moltres and charge your Dyna-meter. Once it’s full, switch to your attackers and deal significant damage. After your attacks, you should bring your defenders back into play.
Also, remember the Dyna-shield and Dyna-healing and assign trainers for these functions accordingly.
3. Don’t go into battle alone
Alone, you will not stand a chance against Dyna-Moltres. Therefore, you should take other trainers with you and ideally start the battle with a complete Dyna-group consisting of 4 trainers.
If you have a complete group where each trainer knows their role and has the appropriate Pokémon, then you increase your chances of a successful battle against the monster.
4. Strengthen your monsters and attacks
To enable your Pokémon to deal and withstand more damage, you should upgrade them accordingly. Evolve your monsters to their highest evolutionary stages and level them up.
Using the right Dyna-attacks and levelling up Dyna-attacks is also crucial to successfully engaging in battle. If one of your Pokémon still lacks the correct Dyna-attack, you can change it using TMs.
Your Pokémon’s Dyna-attack is determined by the Instant Attack that your monster knows.
