In Pokémon GO, Dynamax Articuno is waiting for you for the first time. We have looked into how to best defeat the monster for you.
When will the Pokémon be available? Dynamax Articuno will make its debut in the game as part of Dyna Monday on January 20, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Afterwards, the Pokémon will be available in Dynamax battles until January 27, 2025.
To defeat the Pokémon and add it to your collection, you should prepare optimally. We have looked into how to do this best for you.
1. Use the best counters against Dynamax Articuno
What weaknesses does Articuno have? Dynamax Articuno has the types Flying and Ice. This gives the monster a double weakness against Rock-type attacks as well as a single weakness to Electric, Fire, and Steel. The fact that there are currently no good Rock attackers in the Dynamax area, has already caused frustration in the community.
Which monsters should I attack with? Depending on which monsters you have been able to add to your collection so far, you can rely on the following Pokémon. Make sure that your Pokémon knows the right Dynamax attack.

Which monsters should I defend with? Use one of the following Pokémon to take attacks from Articuno until you have charged your Dyna Meter, and then switch to your attacking Pokémon.

2. Switch your Pokémon
Dyna Articuno is a 5-star Dyna battle. Therefore, you will need to have multiple Pokémon in the fight and use them strategically. Use defending Pokémon to absorb attacks and charge your Dyna Meter, and then switch to your attacking Pokémon.
Once you have performed your Dyna attacks, you should switch back to your defending Pokémon to recharge your Dyna Meter again. Depending on the size and strength of your team, you should also remember to perform the Dyna Shield and Dyna Heal.
3. Bring enough trainers
Dyna Articuno will probably not be easy to defeat. However, with an optimal team and a good tactic, it should already be possible to defeat the Pokémon with 2 trainers.
If you are currently missing good Dyna Pokémon or have not been able to strengthen them, it is better to plan for more trainers. A maximum of 4 trainers can start the Dyna battle together in a group.
The more trainers you have, the easier the battle will be. Make sure to communicate who takes which role in the battle (damage, shield, healing).
4. Strengthen your Pokémon
The best counter Pokémon will not perform well if they are not properly strengthened and optimized. Evolve your Pokémon to the highest level possible and level them up to make them stronger so they can deal and take more damage.
Additionally, your Pokémon should know the right moves. If they do not have these yet, use your TMs to be able to use the best moves in battle.
Remember that your Pokémon’s fast attack determines which Dyna attack it can use.
