In Pokémon GO the data for the Community Day in July and August 2021 is known. In addition, the Safari Zone is set to return to the game. When these events will take place, we have summarized here for you.
When are the Community Days? As in the past, there will be a Community Day in each of July and August. As Niantic has now announced, these
- on July 3, 2021 with Floink and
- on August 15, 2021 will take place.
Although there is currently no specific information about the time of the events, it is to be expected that these will again take place between 11:00 AM and 5:00 PM local time.
What can you expect? As with previous Community Days, there will again be a Pokémon in focus during these events. Which Pokémon it will be is unfortunately not yet known.
Safari Zone 2021 starts in Pokémon GO
In addition to the two dates for the Community Days, Niantic announced the return of the Safari Zone in Pokémon GO (via nianticlabs.com). After the planned event for the Safari Zone had to be canceled last year due to the pandemic, it is to take place soon in these 3 major cities: Liverpool (England), Philadelphia (USA), and St. Louis (USA).
When will the Safari Zone take place? So far, Niantic has not announced a specific date for this. As soon as there is new information, you can read it at MeinMMO.
What is the Safari Zone? This event is, unlike other events like the Community Day, a location-based live event. This means that on a specific date in the cities determined by Niantic, you can catch special Pokémon.
The Pokémon usually consist of rare monsters, which you are less likely to encounter outside of the event. One example of this is the various forms of Unown. But they can also be regional Pokémon. For example, in the past Corasonn was catchable in the Safari Zone.
What Pokémon will be at the Safari Zone? Which Pokémon will be at the Safari Zone has not yet been officially confirmed. Last year, Dratini, Chinchou, Krabby, Honchkrow, Unown, and Relicanth were announced. Since it could not take place in 2020, it is possible that these Pokémon may be found in the upcoming Safari Zone.
How can you participate? To be able to participate in this event, you have always needed a special event ticket. Since trainers could choose last year whether to return their ticket or to keep it for the next Safari Zone, it is to be expected that there will again be tickets this year. (via nianticlabs.com)
Due to the large number of trainers from all over the world coming together at these locations for the event, the tickets are limited in quantity. If you want to participate in the Safari Zone, you should be quick to purchase one after they are released.
Further information about the Pokémon of the upcoming Safari Zone and what hygiene measures you need to observe in connection with COVID at this event are not yet known. But we will continue to inform you about this.
Community feedback on Community Days and Safari Zone
Due to the upcoming Community Days, there is a heated discussion on social networks about which Pokémon will be the focus. Some trainers on Twitter are hoping for Larvitar with a new event Charged Attack for its evolution Tyranitar (via twitter.com). They are hoping for numerous XL Candies. Additionally, some believe that the choice will fall on Floink.
The announcement of the return of the Safari Zone is also making big waves in the community. Some are excited that this live event will soon be taking place again in Pokémon GO.
As user Yar writes on Twitter, he missed getting a ticket for Philadelphia last year and now has another chance at it (via twitter.com). Other trainers criticize that the event is not accessible from everywhere in the world or does not take place in their country.
What do you think about the return of the Safari Zone? Will you get a ticket for it? And what Pokémon would you like to see for the Community Days and the Safari Zone? Feel free to leave us a comment!
Niantic has also confirmed the Pokémon Meloetta for the upcoming GO Fest. We have summarized all the information for you.
