This afternoon, something seems to be happening in Pokémon GO again with Team GO Rocket. A mysterious countdown to a YouTube video is currently counting down.
What is this countdown? If you look at the Pokémon GO YouTube channel, you can see there is currently a video premiere upcoming.
It currently only carries the name “#TeamGORocket”. Niantic isn’t providing more information at the moment, but it fits with the events, as the Rocket bosses have already appeared in the first locations.
Update: The countdown is leading to a new event where you can challenge the Rocket bosses and Giovanni. You can find the new special research “A Long Shadow” here.
Are the Rocket bosses coming worldwide now?
What could be behind the video? Perhaps the Rocket bosses could finally be coming worldwide now. They have already been teased for weeks and have also been tested in the first cities since the night before last.
Now it might be time for a global release, as the bosses are functioning flawlessly in the test areas.
When will we know more? By 3 PM German time at the latest, as the video will be released on YouTube and the countdown will have ended.
This is the experience with countdowns so far: For the release of Team GO Rocket in July, there was already a big countdown on YouTube. However, there were thousands of disappointed players when only a Rocket hour with more Rebels at the PokéStops was announced.
So one shouldn’t be too disappointed if this video doesn’t bring any major news either.
What about the Rocket bosses? Currently, one can only battle against the Rocket bosses in selected cities. However, the fight is worth it, as there are shiny shadow Pokémon and the Unova stone as rewards.
To battle the bosses, you must first collect mysterious components. These can be obtained from battles with Rocket Rebels. Once you have collected 6 of them, you will receive a Rocket Radar, which allows you to track down the bosses.
Niantic has also announced a new feature for your buddy. Soon you’ll be able to interact with it properly:
