On Saturday, August 13, 2022, the Community Day with Galar Zigzagoon will take place in Pokémon GO. For this occasion, you can expect numerous bonuses again. We at MeinMMO have looked at how you can make the best use of the event.
What kind of event is this? Every month, there is a so-called Community Day in Pokémon GO. During this event, a specific Pokémon is highlighted and spawns at nearly every corner. Additionally, the increased shiny rate is supposed to improve your chances of encountering a shiny specimen.
On Saturday, it is that time again and the Community Day with Galar Zigzagoon begins. By earning the Hyperbonus, you could also enhance the contents and partly benefit from them beyond the event.

Community Day in August 2022 – Start and Bonuses
When? Saturday, August 13, 2022, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM local time
Pokémon of the Day? Galar Zigzagoon
Exclusive Attack: Blocker, if you evolve Galar Zigzagoon to Barricadeax within 5 hours after the event
Bonuses:
– Incense and Lure Modules last for 3 hours
– 3 times Stardust from catches

– double chance of XL candies from catches (from level 31)
– surprises from snapshots
– event stickers from gifts and at PokéStops
Additional bonuses from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM local time:

– 2 additional special trades (a total of 4 on this day)
– Limited research on Galar Zigzagoon
Special group bonuses:
– 4 times Stardust for 30 minutes if many Pokémon were caught at a nearby PokéStop with a Lure Module
The Community Day thus extends over 3 full event hours. As you know from previous C-Days, there will also be bonuses this time that will remain valid beyond the end of the actual event and thus be available to you until 7:00 PM local time.
These include the double sending candies and catching XP, the trading bonuses, and learning the event attack Blocker. Additionally, a special limited research will be available to you that day. To solve it, you need to catch 100 Galar Zigzagoon and can finally enjoy various avatar items.

Live Event: As in previous months, there will again be live events in various locations as part of the Community Day with Galar Zigzagoon. Nine German cities are also participating, where you can meet like-minded people between 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM local time:

In addition to the mentioned live events, there will also be a number of PokéStops where special bonuses await you. You can find out exactly where they are on the map on the Pokémon GO website.
Bonus Raid Battles: And the special Level 4 raids following the Community Day with Galar Zigzagoon cannot, of course, be missed. As you know from the two previous C-Days, you can secure additional spawns of Galar Zigzagoon between 2:00 PM and 7:00 PM local time. You can fight against Galar Obstagoon in this context.
However, note that the raids can only be played on-site, and you cannot use remote raid passes. If you win the raid, you secure additional spawns for 30 minutes within a radius of 300 meters around the gym. The shiny chance of the Galar Zigzagoon that appear in this context is just as good as on the actual C-Day.

How to make the best use of the Community Day with Galar Zigzagoon
How can you prepare? To make the most of the Community Day, you should make some preparations. First of all, you need one thing: space. In order to catch diligently and not constantly have to sort the Pokémon, you should already sort your Pokémon bag vigorously.
However, you should wait until the event starts to send Pokémon. After all, you will receive double candies for that during the C-Day. Therefore, it makes sense to sort your monsters using the tagging function and the search filters.
It’s very easy: by clicking on the category “Tags” in your Pokémon bag at the top left. You can add a new one via the “+”. Then sort your monsters as usual, but instead of sending them, select the point “Tag” and assign it. For the C-Day, you just need to open the corresponding tag, mark all monsters, and send them.
In addition to the space for Pokémon, you should also sort your item bag and create space for important items on that day.
These items should you use for the Community Day with Galar Zigzagoon
Balls: To ensure you don’t run out of balls during the event, you should build up a sufficient supply. If you want to play for the full 3 hours, you should have at least 200 balls ready. So spin PokéStops and gyms diligently or open gifts from friends.

Incense and Lure Modules: As with every Community Day, you will also need incense and lure modules to attract even more specimens for Galar Zigzagoon. Both last for 3 hours, so you only need one each for the event.
Sananaberries: To evolve and level up Galar Zigzagoon, you should collect plenty of candies. It’s worth using a Sananaberry when catching, as this doubles the candies you earn from each catch.
Star Pieces: During the Community Day, you can gather a lot of Stardust because the event grants you a 3 times Stardust bonus. If you also play near PokéStops that activate a group bonus during the C-Day, you will even receive 4 times Stardust for catching.
If you want to maximize your Stardust gain, you should use a Star Piece. This will give you an additional 50% more Stardust for 30 minutes.
Lucky Eggs: You should not miss out on Lucky Eggs in your item bag on this day. You will also receive double XP for catches. In combination with the Bug Event, which is currently running parallel to the Community Day, you will be rewarded for your excellent throwing skill and will double XP for great and ultra throws once again.
If you use a Lucky Egg now, you can double your experience points for another 30 minutes. This means you can secure 8 times XP per caught Galar Zigzagoon.
Tip: It’s also beneficial to combine the use of a Lucky Egg with leveling up your friendship level.
Other Items: If you want to participate in Level 4 raids after Community Day, you will also need sufficient (premium) raid passes and revives and potions.

Use this Mega Evolution during the C-Day with Galar Zigzagoon
Why is it worth it? If you want to collect even more candies from Galar Zigzagoon during the Community Day, you should activate the right Mega Evolution. This will give you an additional candy for each catch if the caught Pokémon corresponds to the type of the Mega Pokémon.
Which Mega Evolution should one use? Galar Zigzagoon belongs to the Dark and Normal types. Therefore, the following Mega Pokémon are suitable:
- Mega Lopunny
- Mega Pidgeot
- Mega Gyarados
- Mega Houndoom
- Mega Kangaskhan
- Mega Absol
For whom is Mega Lopunny worth it? If you want to play the Level 4 raids against Galar Obstagoon after the Community Day, it’s best to evolve a Mega Lopunny. The evolution of Galar Zigzagoon is particularly weak against fighting attacks.
Since Mega Lopunny is both Normal and Fighting type, you can effectively use it in battle to enhance the fighting attacks of other attackers and gain an additional candy because it corresponds to the same type as Galar Zigzagoon and Galar Obstagoon.
Is the Community Day with Galar Zigzagoon worth it?
Is Galar Zigzagoon available as shiny? Yes, Galar Zigzagoon has been available in its shiny form in the game for some time. However, during the Community Day, the shiny rates are slightly increased, so your chances of encountering a shiny specimen are good. You can recognize it by its burgundy body.
How strong is Galar Zigzagoon? Galar Zigzagoon and its evolution Galar Obstagoon are both not particularly strong and do not play a significant role in raids or the GO Battle League. Barricadeax, on the other hand, can score well in the Ultra League.
With a moveset of Counter, Night Slash, and Cross Chop, it secures 24th place in the ranking according to PvPoke. For use in raids, you should rather rely on the best attackers in Pokémon GO.
Who should take advantage of the Community Day? The Community Day is particularly worthwhile due to the numerous bonuses, which can help you not only improve your Stardust supply but also make progress towards Level 50.
Trainers who also speculate on one or the other lucky Pokémon should not overlook the trade bonus either. You can exchange Pokémon for reduced Stardust prices for up to 5 hours after the event and also receive 2 additional special trades.
But shiny hunters also get their money’s worth with Galar Zigzagoon. This monster has, with few exceptions, only been available in raids or from eggs in the past, making the event a great opportunity to encounter a shiny specimen.
Additionally, if you are looking for a good candidate for the Ultra League, you should try to secure a strong specimen.
