What kind of event is this? Every month, a special Community Day takes place in Pokémon GO, focusing on a specific Pokémon. Now there is also a Community Day Classic, focusing on a Pokémon that has previously had a C-Day.
In January, you could encounter the Grass-type Pokémon Bulbasaur during the Community Day Classic. With the Water-type Pokémon Mudkip, this format is now entering its second round. Below, we show you all the information you need to know about the Community Day Classic with Mudkip.
Community Day Classic in April 2022 – Start, Bonuses & Shiny
When? Sunday, April 10th 2022, from 14:00 to 17:00 local time
Pokémon of the day: Mudkip spawns more frequently in the wild
Exclusive move: Hydro Cannon, when you evolve Mudkip to Swampert within 2 hours after the event
Bonuses:
– three times XP when catching
– Incense and Lures last 3 hours
– Surprises in snapshots
The Community Day Classic lasts 3 hours on Sunday again. During this time, you can benefit from all bonuses and catch plenty of Mudkip. If you use Incense and Lures, additional specimens will also be attracted.
What offers are available in the in-game shop? As you know from regular Community Days, you will also encounter various offers in the in-game shop that you can purchase:
- Event ticket for special research “Community Day Classic with Mudkip” for about €1
- a free event box with 30 Ultra Balls
- Community Day Box with 15 Ultra Balls, 15 Nanab Berries, a Premium Battle Pass and a Remote Raid Pass
How to make the most of the Community Day Classic with Mudkip
How to prepare: Before the actual Community Day Classic starts, you should make a few preparations. This primarily includes clearing out space in your Pokémon storage. So start sorting out your Pokémon now so that you don’t have to constantly send them during the Community Day.
It is also important to have enough Poké Balls in your item bag. If you want to play for the full 3 hours, we recommend a stock of at least 150 to 200 balls. This way, you can catch Pokémon for a while and won’t need to restock right away.

Items you should use for the Community Day Classic
In addition to space and balls, you should also rely on one or two items. If you want to catch especially many Mudkip, you can activate an Incense or a Lure Module. Since both last for 3 hours during the event, you only need to invest one of each.
Furthermore, there is a triple XP bonus for catching. If you are on your way to level 50 and need more experience points, you should definitely use Lucky Eggs. These last for 30 minutes each and double your XP during that time. Therefore, it is also the perfect time to level up with your friends.
Of course, you should also secure as many Mudkip candies as possible on this day, especially if you want to evolve and level up Swampert. To get extra candies, you can use Nanab Berries while catching.
Tip: If you have developed a Mega Pokémon that shares the same type as the Pokémon you want to catch, you will receive an extra candy for that catch. You should definitely take advantage of this opportunity during the Community Day Classic if you want to farm candies.
Since Mudkip is a Water-type Pokémon, Mega Blastoise is a good match. However, Mega Gyarados or Mega Swampert are also good alternatives.
Is the Community Day Classic with Mudkip worth it?
Is there a Shiny Mudkip? Yes, Mudkip can also be found in its shiny form. You can recognize it by its pink body. Typically, the shiny chances are increased during Community Days, so you are likely to encounter at least one.
This is how strong Mudkip and its evolutions are: Mudkip is a Water-type Pokémon from Generation 3. It evolves into Marshtomp and then Swampert. While Mudkip and Marshtomp are not particularly strong, you should not underestimate Swampert.
The Water and Ground-type Pokémon scores especially well with high stamina. Its attack and defense stats are also solid. In the GO Battle League, this Pokémon can perform really well and is among the best candidates (via pvpoke.com).
With a moveset of Mud Shot, Hydro Cannon, and Earthquake, it ranks 12th in the Great League. In the Ultra League, it even ranks 6th. The event move Hydro Cannon, which you can acquire during the Community Day Classic, makes Swampert really strong.
It also ranks among the best attackers in Pokémon GO in raids.
Who should use the Community Day with Mudkip? The event is especially worthwhile for trainers who still need a strong Swampert in their team. Since this Pokémon is interesting in both raids and PvP, everyone should find something of value.
Additionally, you can find Mudkip in its shiny form. For those who do not have one in their collection yet, this is the perfect opportunity to encounter one. And don’t forget to take advantage of the XP bonus on this day. This way, you can make significant progress in leveling up.
