In Pokémon GO the Color Festival event starts on March 8, 2023. It brings 2 new Pokémon into the game. Additionally, there are chances for a Shiny that will disappear after the event. We show you all the bonuses.
What kind of event is this? The Color Festival is a recurring event in Pokémon GO that also took place in 2022. The Holi event brought a new Pokémon from Gen 7 last year. This time Mega-Meditalis and Knirfish will make their first appearance in the game and you can catch them.
You have the chance to get Shiny Farbeagle, but only for a short time. In the overview, we show you all times and contents.
Color Festival 2023 in Pokémon GO – Start, Bonuses, Shinies, and Releases
When is the start and end? The Color Festival 2023 begins on Wednesday, March 8, at 10:00 AM local time. It will be active until Tuesday, March 14, and end at 8:00 PM.
What new Pokémon releases are there? Mega-Meditalis and Knirfish are the two new Pokémon that will be activated for the first time in Pokémon GO for the event.
You can find Mega-Meditalis in Mega Raids. The shiny version will also be activated.
Knirfish initially appears without a shiny version. You can find it during the events in the wild and in raids.
What bonuses are there?
- At PokéStops, a “Colorful Surprise” is expected
- Incense activated during the event lasts for 3 hours
- You can complete a collector challenge that rewards you with 20,000 XP and an incense
- Friendship levels increase twice as fast
- In snapshots, Farbeagle appears
- If you are lucky, you can encounter a shiny Farbeagle. However, Farbeagle will only appear limited each day through snapshots.
Niantic explains that shiny Farbeagle will not appear after the event. There should be more chances to encounter them in future events.

Avatar Pose: At the start of the event and also afterward, you will find the “Color Throw Pose” in the Pokémon GO shop. In this pose, your character takes colorful dust in hand and throws it into the air. A colorful cloud briefly forms there.
