Today marks the start of a new season in Pokémon GO, bringing you various spawns and bonuses. However, one bonus has caused a stir in recent days and has now been changed. What this is and what you can expect in the coming weeks, we have summarized for you here on MeinMMO.
Which season is it about? Today, on September 1, 2023, there is once again a season change in Pokémon GO. Starting at 10:00 AM local time, the season Plenty of Adventures
will begin, focusing primarily on the monsters from the Paldea region.
And some bonuses will once again be active and accompany you in the game over the next 3 months. This time, these are about interactions with your friends. However, one of these bonuses has caused quite a stir in the community in recent days and has ultimately been changed. We will explain what this is about below.

Bonus apparently allowed you to send fewer gifts
Which bonus is it about? At first glance, the bonuses for the coming months didn’t seem so bad, as you will receive more XP upon leveling up friendship, deal more damage in raids with friends, and can open more gifts daily.
However, one bonus left trainers puzzled in recent days, as it provided no advantage. Besides the mentioned contents, you should only be able to send 40 gifts. That would have been quite a downgrade, as the current limit is 100 gifts per day.
Until yesterday afternoon, you could still find the following announcement on the Pokémon GO blog:
Niantic adjusts bonus just before the season starts
New bonus activated for the season: It’s clear that this bonus was a mistake that the Pokémon GO developers have since become aware of. The bonus has been adjusted just before the start of the new season.
The limit for sending gifts has been removed, and a new bonus has been added to the season overview in the Pokémon GO blog. As some trainers had already suspected on social media, the limit for gifts you can hold in your item bag has now been increased.
This limit is now 40 gifts throughout the entire season. So that’s 20 more than before.
Trainers are happy about the change: The incorrect bonus had previously caused quite a stir in the community. While some were upset about the severe limitation, many could hardly believe that Niantic would actually limit gift sending so severely and therefore suspected a mistake behind it. Meanwhile, trainers can finally breathe easy again, as their assumption has obviously been confirmed. The new bonus is indeed a relief for many in the game (via reddit.com):

Okay, now that I know the bonus, I am very satisfied. I send a lot of gifts in one day, and in the morning, when I do most of the sending, it’s nice to be able to store more of them.

Honestly, I’m very happy about it. I just recently started again, so it was difficult to progress towards best friends with 100+ local friends since the limit is 20 gifts held/30 gifts opened.
How are the other bonuses received? Especially the increased XP upon leveling up friendship is exciting for players. It is worth collecting these level-ups and then performing several at once, combined with a lucky egg, at a fixed time. This way, you can gather a lot of XP on the way to level 50.
In addition, some trainers are also sad that they no longer receive guaranteed XL candies when trading. They would have liked this bonus in the new season as well.
