What kind of Pokémon is Thermopod? Thermopod resembles a type of caterpillar or millipede and combines the types Bug and Fire. It first appeared in the games Pokémon Sword & Shield.
Thermopod has an evolution: Infernopod. This Pokémon is also a burning insect and combines Fire and Bug.
The Pokédex highlights how much heat develops from Thermopod and especially Infernopod. It is known for grilling its prey by wrapping them with its body. Infernopod is said to reach temperatures of up to 800 degrees Celsius. Additionally, Thermopod has a Gigantamax form in the main games, which rises to 1,000 degrees.
We will have to wait for the Gigantamax form of Infernopod, but basically, the debut of Thermopod in Pokémon GO is imminent: It will be the star of the Bug Catching Event, which starts today.
How can I catch Thermopod in Pokémon GO?
This is how you catch Thermopod: Thermopod will be available with the start of the Bug Catching Event in Pokémon GO. It starts on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at 10:00 AM. After that, it runs until Sunday, March 30, at 8:00 PM.
However, Thermopod will not just appear in the wild. Instead, you must use one of the following methods.
- Deploy a Lure Module: You can attract Thermopod during the event by equipping a PokéStop with a Lure Module. However, this also means that you should not leave the location for a while.
- Catch it in a Raid: Thermopod will appear in Level 1 Raids. Since it is just an easy raid, you should be able to defeat it easily on your own. Thermopod is particularly weak against Rock-type attacks.
- Use the Research: A limited research will be running during the event, where you can also encounter a Thermopod.
Can Thermopod be shiny? No, as of now, you cannot catch the shiny version in Pokémon GO.
How do I get Infernopod? You need to evolve Thermopod for that. To do this, you need to collect 50 Thermopod candies. So it’s best to try the Lure Module variant to encounter as many Thermopod as possible and collect candies.
Additionally, you can use a caught Thermopod as your buddy to earn more candies by walking with it.
