In Pokémon GO, 5 major new features were introduced in 2023. We want to know from you: Which is your favorite?
With 2024, a new year for Pokémon GO has begun. This gives us the chance to look back one last time at the past year – because several new features were introduced in Pokémon GO in 2023.
But do you consider these strong changes? Or do they rather seem weak to you? We want to find out in a survey.
This is how the survey works: Here we will briefly introduce the 5 features that Pokémon GO introduced in 2023 again. The focus is on the features that brought new gameplay mechanics.
Under each feature, you will find a small survey where you can enter your school grade for each feature.
We follow the classic school system:
- 1 – Very good
- 2 – Good
- 3 – Satisfactory
- 4 – Sufficient
- 5 – Poor
- 6 – Unsatisfactory
1. The Master Ball
The Master Ball was introduced in May 2023. However, it is very difficult and rare to obtain. So far, it has only been possible to get a total of 2 Master Balls through various research tasks.
However, it is a powerful item that guarantees you the capture of any Pokémon – which is especially worthwhile for some monsters. The throw also comes with a special animation.
2. Crypto Raids and Purified Gems
The Crypto Raids also appeared in May 2023 and represent a challenging form of raid that you can only complete on-site. Remote raid passes cannot be used here.
There are both legendary Crypto Raid bosses and smaller opponents. However, they should not be underestimated, as they can switch to a rampaging mode that makes them even more dangerous.
To calm them down, you need “Crypto Shards,” which become “Purified Gems” when you have enough. You get them from Team Rocket – so another reason to confront the Rocket thugs.
3. The Party Feature
Party Play is a feature that has allowed you since October 17, 2023, to play together in a group of up to four trainers and complete various tasks – for which there are rewards.
The most important bonus of the feature is “Party Power.” This gives you the ability to double the damage of your charge attacks in raids when activated.
Read everything about the party feature here.
4. The Showcases
In July 2023, PokéStop Showcases were introduced. Here you can repeatedly register different Pokémon to secure rewards.
Your Pokémon is evaluated based on its size, for example, and enters a ranking. The higher you rank at the end of the showcase, the better the rewards will be for you.
5. Routes
The Routes appeared in July 2023 and represent small walks from PokéStop to PokéStop that trainers can create and submit. Once approved, you can walk your own routes as well as those of other trainers.
This brings you, among other things, Pokémon spawns, but most importantly, they are the only way to get the coveted but rare Zygarde Cells. At the end of 2023, routes were further supplemented by the researcher Mateo, who trades gifts with you. Additionally, you can now also complete them together when you are out in a party.
However, the route feature struggled initially with many routes not being approved or simply taking a very long time to be evaluated.
What do you think of the features?
These were the five major features that Pokémon GO released in 2023. Participate in the surveys and give your grade for the features. And: Tell us in the comments what you like about the features and what you find problematic!
