In Pokémon GO the event “A Daring Hero” starts today, which brings you not only cool raid bosses but also a few bonuses. However, Niantic seems to have forgotten two of these bonuses and added them at the last moment. We at MeinMMO will show you what they are and how the trainers are reacting.
What event are we talking about? In Pokémon GO, starting today, May 11, the event “A Daring Hero” will take place, where you should now help Candela along with Blanche and Spark. The focus is on battles, which is why the raid bosses have been adjusted accordingly. But apart from a candy bonus when catching, there were previously no battle-specific bonuses to be seen.
However, this has now changed at the last moment, as Niantic added two more strong bonuses to the event that were previously forgotten. What they are, we have summarized for you below.
Niantic gifts you 2 strong bonuses at the last moment
What bonuses are we talking about? As Niantic announced via their Twitter account in the early hours of May 11, 2023, it seems that two bonuses were forgotten in their event announcement from May 4, which they have now added at short notice.
Accordingly, you can look forward to the following additional bonuses throughout the event:
- up to 2 free raid passes daily when you spin at gyms
- 2 mysterious parts after battling Team GO Rocket grunts
Are the new bonuses worth it? Yes! During the event, you can come across some interesting raid bosses. For the first time, you might encounter Mega Pinsir, which is among the strongest attackers in Pokémon GO. Additionally, there is the first shiny chance for Kapu-Kime. Therefore, the daily additional free raid pass will definitely benefit you.
With the additional mysterious parts that you receive after fighting the Rocket grunts, you also have a better chance of spotting the Rocket bosses more frequently in the coming days. This can be particularly helpful for players who are currently on their way from level 44 to 45.
Here, you need to fight against the bosses 50 times to level up. But even to secure more 12 km eggs or the shadow Pokémon, this bonus is worth it.

“Corrections to your announcements are becoming ridiculous”
Trainers are angry: Although the new bonuses are actually quite strong, frustration prevails in the community. Many trainers are upset due to the poor communication from the past months. This is because Niantic has made corrections to the content several times just before or shortly after the start of events, because they were announced incorrectly in advance.
Just in April, Pokémon GO removed a bonus at the last minute for Environmental Week. And even the limited and more expensive remote raids still upset the community. Additionally, due to the time zone difference, the event was already running in the first regions at the time of Niantic’s tweet.
Even if the change in the case of the current event brings a benefit for the players, some can hardly understand how such errors and delayed communications can keep happening. Thus, the developers receive not only praise in the comments on Twitter for the new bonuses but also a lot of mockery and scorn:

More errors from Niantic: Additionally, this was not the only error at the start of the event “A Daring Hero.” After it started in the first time zones and should actually bring the new monster Mega Pinsir to trainers in Mega Raids, instead, Mega Scizor appeared.
This mega evolution was found in the corresponding raids in the past few days. Only around 4:00 AM German time was the problem fixed according to a tweet from the developers. Thus, players in the first time zones were able to secure the new Pokémon only much later.
And there was also initially an error in the text of the special research “A Daring Hero”. The PokeMiners, a group of data miners, reported via their Twitter account that according to the task on the second board only 5 charge moves were to be used for solving.
However, this should be an error, as you need to use “very effective charge moves” instead (via twitter.com). Even if this seems to be just a small mistake, it is still confusing and can cause considerable frustration while solving the quests.
Update from May 11, 7:30 PM: In the meantime, the error in the quest text seems to be fixed. You now need to perform “5 very effective charge moves” to complete the task.
