In Pokémon GO, we can not only catch and train masses of creatures, but also let the little monsters battle each other in the arena. But how does it work with the arena? At what level can I enter and how can I take over the place? With our information and tricks, it’s no problem anymore!
Arena maps are visible from far away in Pokémon GO, as the gigantic towers shine in the colors of their teams and attract with great loot. But what is the deal with the arenas and how can you benefit from them? We have put together a compact guide that leaves no questions unanswered.
Into the Arena!
Before you can enter an arena, you must first reach level 5 with your Pokémon Trainer. After that, you go to any arena and register there for a team. The significance of the individual teams is summarized under the previous link. But make sure you are in the same team as your friends, because as a solo player, you will have little fun in the arena.
The Arena Overview
In the screenshot shown here, you can see the values of an arena. Particularly important: The arena level, because this indicates how many creatures can fit into the arena map. The more Pokémon fit, the longer your team can hold the arena. Caution: Each player can only place one Pokémon from their supply into the arena, and this Pokémon cannot be used elsewhere until it flies out of the arena again!
The arena level is determined by the so-called “prestige.” You earn prestige every time you win a battle in a friendly arena. The following list shows how many points you need for each arena level:
Level 2: 2,000 points
Level 3: 4,000 points
Level 4: 8,000 points
Level 5: 12,000 points
Level 6: 16,000 points
Level 7: 20,000 points
Level 8: 30,000 points
Level 9: 40,000 points
Level 10: 50,000 points
How do I conquer an arena?
If you want to take over a hostile arena, you need to reduce its prestige to zero. You do this by winning battles against the defenders, i.e., the Pokémon stationed there by their players. Each victory costs the arena 1,000 prestige points, and as the arena level falls, the weakest Pokémon flies out permanently. In this way, with enough patience, you can gradually wear down a strong arena. However, keep in mind that you need to revive each fainted Pokémon afterward with a reviver and potions. Also, keep in mind that you can attack an arena as a team. This way, you can break through even powerful defenders like a steamroller, and only this way is it effectively possible to crack strong arenas. To start a team attack, you must all hold your Pokémon selection ready and press “Go” at the same time.
What does all this bring?
Arena battles are fun and cool, but what do they actually bring? First of all, you’ll earn tons of experience points for victories in combat, especially if the enemy monster is stronger than your own. And if you manage to occupy an arena, you get 500 stardust and 10 Pokécoins, which are otherwise only available for real money. As soon as the reward for the arena is available, it appears in the shop at the top right in the shield symbol and can be collected there. It is sufficient if you only briefly occupy the arena; you just need to collect the reward in time, because if your Pokémon flies out, your claim to loot is also gone.
Only after 21 hours can you collect rewards from an arena again, and to hold out that long, you should upgrade the arena. For this, it is best to place a rather weak Pokémon in the arena and fight it as often as possible in training battles until your level rises. Your own Pokémon cannot faint during this, and the Pokémon from the arena is fully healed after each battle, so you do not harm your teammates with training battles.
