What does March bring for events in Pokémon GO? A leak seems to provide initial details – but trainers are very skeptical.
What kind of leak is this? An alleged leak about the contents of March is currently making the rounds on the subreddit “TheSilphRoad” for Pokémon GO.
The post has gathered over 600 upvotes and more than 290 comments so far – but also a fair amount of skepticism.
The original Discord post lists various events for March and beyond. These include an event centered around Nockchan, Kicklee, and Kapoera, the release of the monster Knirfish, and Mega-Meditalis, as well as a Community Day with Flegmon in March.
Furthermore, the leak mentions the two new Regis that were recently found in the code of Pokémon GO. They are allegedly set to appear in the top raids and follow Hoopa.
In addition, the leak mentions Melmetal with its special move “Steel Fists,” Crypto-Regice, the release of Gierspenst in its wander form, as well as a Community Day with Togetic in April, one with Fynx in May, and a Community Day Classic with Quiekel also in May.
However, the information is met with a lot of skepticism. Some trainers say: That can’t be right.
Trainers Doubt – What Goes Against the Leak?
What bothers trainers: The main point against the leak is highlighted by some trainers in the comments of the post (via reddit): Niantic has already announced some event dates for March, April, and May.
Although it was not disclosed which Pokémon would appear, two dates there contradict those from the leak:
- The leak mentions two Community Days in May – one “Classic,” one “Normal”
- Pokémon GO itself already confirmed that in April, not May, there will be two Community Days – the normal one on April 15 and the “Classic” on April 29.
So that doesn’t add up. And also, trainers express skepticism about the allegedly leaked contents:
- One trainer finds it strange that Kicklee, Nockchan, and Kapoera are supposed to get an event so soon, after they were prominently featured in the December Battle Event “Mysterious Blade” (via reddit).
- “The Regis in the top raids make me doubt it. Going from a strong mysterious Pokémon like Hoopa to two (comparatively) weak sub-legendaries like Regidrago and Regieleki is a sure way to ensure that people only do a few of both and then simply ignore them,” says another (via reddit).
- Overall, the idea that the Regis found in data mining could end up in the top raids so quickly is met with skepticism.
The leak should therefore be approached with caution at the very least. Whether some of these contents will come into the game in this form or on the specified dates is questionable.
Typically, Niantic announces the events of a month at the end of the previous month or at the start of a new month. So it is likely to take some time before there is certainty.
Nevertheless, March is likely to be a very exciting month, as a new season is expected to begin when “Mysterious Wishes” ends. As a finale in February, however, there will still be the global Hoenn Tour in Pokémon GO.
